Galaxy S (I9000) In Durban

Has anyone in the Durban area got hold of this phone thought any of the network providers?
I am hoping to start a new contract with this phone :)

Made me ROFL, went to this cell phone shop by the harbour, and this guy was trying to cell me a "Super cheap, discounted" Samsung Wave for R5k.

"I DONT want that one" (I little Britain tone)

I'm guessing the Samsung Shop in Vodaworld? Luckily I ordered from the first batch the day it was released to the warehouse... :D

EDIT: Guide on how to update to 2.2 FROYO (beta?) via KIES on first page

Darn it :/

Thanks for the feedback guys. It looks like an epic phone albeit the GPS problems I have heard about it. Hopefully Froyo can fix that!

Dam asked like 10 cell shops, about 3 said they could get..earliest next week. :cry:!

I got mine from the Vodacom shop in Gateway last week Thursday. They had stock on hand.... maybe give them a call.

i JUST PHONED expansys and they have it in stock, so if you order it , you can get it the next day. pretty cool. I see that MicroSD cards have different classes, ie class 2 or 4. what does the class refer to?

has anyone bought from expansys, and if so which postal method did you use? ie insured or not and did you use ram or supaswift door services?

Tim, the info on the first page for upgrading to the "test version" of Froyo has a mistake. At least that reg file didn't work for me. But this worked:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Samsung\Kies\DeviceDB\1]
"SoftwareRevision"="I9000XXJF3/I9000OXAJF3/I9000XXJF3/I9000XXJF3"
"ProductCode"="GT-I9000HKDXEU"
"HIDSWVER"=""
"DEVCONINFO"=""

*It wouldn't execute without "Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00" at the top.
*It must be run after connecting the phone in Kies (Took me a while to get this right, haha).
*Also, the '1' at the end of the line "[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Samsung\Kies\DeviceDB\1]" might need to be changed. Check your registry manually if 1 doesn't work and replace it with whatever you see in DeviceDB.

I'm downloading it now. Hope it's good.

Awesome :) I phoned them up and signed up via email. Hopefully can get it this week :)

I've got a problem with Kies, every time I click on firmware upgrade it says server not responding and that I must check my internet connection, are any of you also receiving this error?

Yeah, but only at work where i assume our firewall is killing it. At home it works fine.

Thanks Tim, are you using FROYO?

I ran the JP3 alpha. I have not tested the KIES 2.2 beta but heard good things. Will upgrade some time soon when I have time. So far JM1 is running well for me.
