Official Thread: Samsung Galaxy S (I9000)

Unplugging Headphones causes music to play. Does anybody know how to fix (or work around) this problem. It seems to be a general Android problem.

Edit: I'm using the Samsung Galaxy S. If you open the task manager, unplug your headphones, you will see the music app starts automatically

Haven't had this problem. Which version of Android or ROM are you using?

Doesn't happen to me.
But on a related note. It would be cool if you could make the music player start automatically when you plug earphones in :p

Firmware: 2.1-update1
Kernel version: 2.6.29 root@SE-604 #2
Build Number: ECLAIR.DXJG4

Edit: It's not the end of the world, I just end task. Maybe with Android 2.2 the problem will go away.

Im on voadcom and i used that method (look a few posts back). I had that vodacom start up screen and its gone now

EDIT: it worked for my phone. I can't confirm that it'll work for yours. (i had recurring nightmares about being sued for things like these)

Guys i managed to root my galaxy S without a hassle! yes this phone is a beauty! i have installed almost 60 Apps, and i still have more that a Gig of ROM to spare!
you know when people were saying about the S being all plasticky, i wonder what they were thinking! this phone has surpassed my expectations.
i installed appinstaller and i enjoy playing with it.
i'm into programming, so i downloaded the android SDK and Eclips, tried creating a small app just to see how things work, amazing stuff!
since i'm coming from the Linux background i really understand what is happenning with this phone, i hope 6 months from now i can really develop a good application for my Droid.
Yes this phone is not for those who just want to go to face book and surf the internet! rather get yourself an Iphone, this one for people who like experimenting!

I thank you guys for all the threads that helped me to root my phone.
Is there a full blown shell (BASH, CSHELL or KSHELL)that i can install on my S?

Last time i heard guys talking about lag fixes on eclair, for those that have fixed this problem what improvement have you seen on your device?

Can't help much than to do a TiBu and do a reflash of the ROM and run TiBu

Didn't work for me, just updates my phone to 2.1 update 1. No longer have the vodacom boot screen though.

ADB is a command-line utility that you get as part of the Android SDK. Just Google it and download the SDK. In order to reboot the phone into recovery using ADB, just run:

Code: 
C:\Android SDK\tools\adb.exe reboot recovery
...assuming you installed the Android SDK to "C:\Android SDK".

I'm not aware of too many shells available for the phone, but you can download some SSH apps for Android.

The lag fixes for the SGS manipulate the file system on the SGS, seeing as Samsung found it wise to use RFS, which is kinda slow. Some lag fixes add EXT2 or EXT4 partitions to the phone, while z4mod (apparently) completely replaces RFS with EXT2.

I'd recommend starting off the RyanZA's One-Click-Lag-Fix (OCLF). It's easy to install and undo, if necessary. I've noticed quite some improvement in opening apps and less lag when scrolling through the home screens or opening the app drawer. It does tend to become slow again after a week or 2, but after a reboot mine is usually good to go again.

My 1st post... :wtf:

You just tap and hold on the sms you want to forward and a menu should pop up with all sorts of options, including "forward".

Yeah it is hella slippery - first day I had mine I drooped it pressing the Standby button - but was lucky enough to reduce the impact by half catching on my shoe.
 
Mine slipped out of my hands in cresta and landed a metre behind facedown on the tile. No scratches. However I have a few microscratches that you can see in the sunlight otherwise it's in excellent condition. I tried a silicone protector for a few days but the phone began feeling to bulky, the only extra I've put on now is a screen protector. A surprisingly strong little phone.
