Official Tri-Nations 2010 Thread

Nea. I think 9 weeks is harsh. It was just a headbutt. However, I feel Bakkies should be kicked from the Springbok squad. He has now let the Boks down too many time.
Bakkies is tarnishing what has been a rather illustrious career. Very sad really. He is a great player. I reckon he should take international rugby off for the year, focus on CC and next years World cup. At the mo he is playing catch up...

Man Bakkies is a world class chop .... how you still go round in this day and age headbutting people, idiot. I smell a nice ban coming up

+1. This time it was clearl there is no excuse. He needs to either be kept out of the team or sort out his attitude. You just can not afford behaviour like on international level (or any level for that matter).

And there he goes ........ although that yellow is world class BS, no warning nothing, just off.

Jip the yellow was a BS call but karma will get you :p

Kieran Read infringement with Boks attacking try line professional foul should be yellow card if ref is consistent....

+1. Same thing but no card for the offending AB......

everything is wrong with this 15 ...... there are better players to pick (mentioned about 2 or 3 pages back) and we are playing people out of position. This team in it's current state is nothing close to our full strength side.

Who would you swap for the current guys? (I am not attacking your opinion I would just really like to know.)

Zane imo had a good game everything considered. I still think F. Steyn would be a bigger asset as a kicking war with him will 90% of the time go in favour of the boks.

Januarie cannot do half the things FDP does but FDP is the best scrumhalf in the world!!! Time to give Ruan a run at 9...

+1 we need someone that can have the oposition on the back foot not be one of their star players.

The scrums are a point of worry and our forwards really did not even come close to dominating.

Problems imo
a) Bakkies' yellow and his idiotic antics.
b) Slow service and bad kicking from Januarie.
c) Jean de villiers on wing...
d) Olivier isn't bad but not being able to offload in the tackle closes down J. Fourie's flair and good running. This in effect neutralises our backline.

Was F. Steyn selected for the tri nations sq?

The most concerning thing for me was the inability to tackle. Look at the stats for the missed tackles - I am sure I saw SA missed 21 to NZ's 6. The loose forwards were nowhere. Louw tried but he isn't Brussouw and Spies and Burger don't know how to tackle.

I thought Januarie actually had a good game for Januarie. He was bad but he is usually far worse. And what the hell was De Villiers doing trying to intercept passes when he has a two man overlap outside him?

And the flat passes aren't working against a team as quick as NZ, especially when we take those passes standing still.

That Bakkies tappet has to go. Saw where he came out of his disciplinary and he was still an arrogant c**t. Also tried to justify his actions by claiming being provoked, ag shame. This guys history preceeds him, don't need players like him in the team.

Hell I hate that oke.

That is also true but with an inside centre not being able to offload and a 14 wing not knowing how to play in that position the backline will never shape ... Well not against a team as good as the ABs.

Veteran tighthead prop CJ van der Linde comes in for the injured Jannie de Plessis and Danie Rossouw replaces Bakkies Botha, who received a nine-week suspension for head-butting All Blacks' scrumhalf Jimmy Cowan.

De Villiers named his team on Tuesday, saying there was no panic in the South African ranks despite the heavy defeat suffered in Auckland at the weekend by his world champions and reigning Tri-Nations titleholders.

oh yay more ricky! :D:D

CJ? for real? ...... our scrums are still gonna struggle then. I have never seen what the big deal about CJ is, seriously.

I would actually love to go with the Sharks front row from the S14 ..... when Smit was loosehead, Bissy hooker and Beast/Jannie at tighthead we had a damn decent scrum.

Smith at loosehead did not look like working in the past imo (limitedly informed on props as it might be).

Where is Bismark and is Beast in the sq for the trinations overseas leg?

It was when Smit was at tighthead that it was not working but those last few games he switched and played along with the DuP brothers and that scrum was getting mentioned as being damn wicked. Bissy is injured and Beast, I dunno ...... he is now eligible at least.

Ah ok :)

Mmm only problem is then guthro is kept out of the starting lineup and imo he was one of the best players in the S14 nevermind in his position (this is not because he is a bulls player :D).

But if an all sharks front row is what it takes to dominate the forwards play a bit more and not go backwards come scrum time, then so be it.
