Official Vox DSL feedback thread

Nothing seems wrong with exchange or router, so probably somewhere between exchange and IPC.
Nothing you can really do and should affect quite a few people, so hopefully fixed quickly.

Anyone that can tell me if there is something wrong with the tracert info above? It timed out from hop 15 onwards...

Pings are a bit high, so they probably had a hiccup. Bethesda's servers do not respond to ICMP requests, so running a tracert to their servers will just kick you down the path endlessly because they don't want anyone targeting their infrastructure for a DDoS.

Doesn't look like it's live.

Tbh, don't think it will make much difference, you'll probably still have over 200ms ping for most games in the US, so Europe is still your best bet for gaming servers.

I got a friend in JHB with Cool Ideas Fibre on vumatel. He gets 140-160ms to Miami and 148-172ms to California. Gaming wise mostly MMO

Here's also a quote from an email he got to them before he got the account.

Hi #####

Thank you for your inquiry.

Please kindly note that our general latency from South Africa to Miami/Brazil ranges between 130ms to 160ms. Over wireless the latency can vary.

We have made network improvements by routing our traffic through the SACS( The South Atlantic Cable System ) undersea cable to make an improvement on our international latency.

I hope this answers your question.

Should you need anything further, please don't hesitate to contact us

Kind regards,

Everyone got the increase email?

"Despite significant increases in operating costs, our commitment towards improving efficiencies has limited this increase, across our services portfolio and customer base, to an average of 6.5%."

Effective 1st January 2019. Actual increase for your individual products may differ.

Yes, going to do what I did last year, just side-grade to the new product instead, though will be a month's increase fee.

Very dumb that they do this.

I dont get it. So you move to a package with lower data?

I'm on a promo account 300Gb for R161. Still think it's best value than current packages.

I'm not on a promo package, sadly missed that by ~2 months.
I can just use the change package on the portal, the current priced packages are there, so you can swap straight back to the e.g. R259pm 300GB account.
If they don't, I'll kick up a fuss with their support. Not paying a different amount than new clients, in Austria A1 tried to do that to me, after half an hour of support they moved me, but that was a difference ~30 EUR per month, so worth my time.

I just checked and the 400gb package is increasing to R309, I think it was R299 till now. (I don't have any special packages)

Anyone else notice an increase in latency?
On a speedtest, my ping has now jumped from 21/22 ms to 39/40 ms. So in essence, double.

My 400gb Promo account still says R165.44 for next month.

If I remember correctly, Vox did say that those promo accounts will not be affected by price increases. The increase was because of VAT, but that's about it.
