Official Vox DSL feedback thread

I am having the same issue.
But in the day time it is fine

Sounds like an exchange issue then.
I find that my streaming dies from 4pm till 8pm regardless of ISP.
Once the kiddies have finished with Facebook and the Mommies with email and Skype, things return to normal.
The past 3 months though it has been so bad I have reverted to downloading during the day to watch at night.
Silly thing is that I have to now pirate the content that I am paying for.
Is that still Piracy? could be a sticky issue in court.

Latency and speed really bad. (not what it used to be) On a 10mbps capped fatpipe account. Pretoria ... anybody else having this?

Sunday again and the same happens. During the week in day time it's good but it seems saterday? and sunday? is a problem.... At night time I don't use the Internet so I don't know how it is then.

Perhaps they run into capacity problems on weekends because everybody is streaming stuff. Really hope not.

It does not sound like a VOX issue, but rather more like a congestion at the exchange you are connected to.

Do a "ping -t 155.239.255.250" when you experience these slow downs and look at the return ping rates, you should get 10 - 20ms return rates on a non congested exchange normally.

I am on a 20Mbps VDSL connection and this is my results.

PS C:\> ping -t 155.239.255.250

Have the same issue. Seems like there's an outage in the Southern region, from Axxess/Afrihost:

We are receiving reports of slow internet access in the Southern region(Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and surrounds). This is affecting all of our Openserve ADSL and fibre clients in these areas. Our engineers are currently investigating.

Thank you for your patience.

Also getting about 1mbps down. Nigh unusable at the moment.

If I hop onto a WebAfrica account everything is full speed

I don't know enough about the various ISP's backbone utilisation, but perhaps Axxess/Afrihost/Vox run along the same route, while IS resellers are on another.

I needed some files to work on and having seen the above posts I expected the worst, but my download is peeking at 10.24MBs so no problems here in Cape Town.

Axxess resolved their notice so I switched to my backup account with them and have been working from that all afternoon. Perhaps Vox eventually sorted their issues out too.

It would be nice if Vox had ANY kind of notice / notification system for issues.

Vox also resolved, they say 10gbps fiber cable break was the cause

My line speed has been up and down like a YoYo this weekend so far. Router sync is solid at 12 Mbps.
