gdiza , didn't you ask Herman perhaps his take why M-**B is giving their users flat out no limit saix local usage ?

saix and Ti should be much closer than saix/m-b

on what account is that?

is it still happening?

pm me plz

If they are such prudes, why don't they just strictly impose the limitations they speak of? Why not just cut us off when we hit 30GB? Why do they allow us to go over and then decide when they want to punish us? It sounds like entrapment.

I am sitting with my local usage at 123 GB for may (when its supposed to be 15GB) and 6 GB blended bw total (even though the upload/download figures got reduced to 0) on my TI usage tracker. The saix usage tracker logs me as 21GB total traffic overall (which is what it should be). phoned telkom like 20 times and no luck getting through to supervisors (apparently they in meetings 24/7) and also no luck getting through to anyone with half a brain.

Anyways phoned telkom this morning to see what my bill is at and so far its looking normal, but who knows what will happen.

EDIT: Anyone who manages to sort out incorrect usage recording (thus large phone bill) please let the rest of us know, if I have any luck I'll post how I got my problems sorted out.

I did actually, well, he told me that the unlimited BW option for Mweb users has been stopped and should've been communited to everyone who is at Mweb.

Other ISP's will be doing the same.

You guys are NOT going to get outta paying your bills... hehe... love it! :) I'm not the only one who is going to KARK!!!!!!!!!!!

But if you manage to get outta it, let me know ;)

I love hearing FAIRY tales ;)

I phoned both, same bill.

Just went to usage site again to check and instead of being able to see graphs which gave me my insane usage it said....

-------------------
Dear Customer,
Please note that the TelkomInternet daily usage calculation page is currently experiencing technical problems. The "Weekly" and "Monthly" functions has been disabled until it is rectified.
Your monthly usage will however be displayed correctly on top of this page.
Should you wish to view your daily usage you may visit www.saix.net and obtain the information under the "Support/ADSL" usage tab.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused.
----------------------------------------------------

Allows you to visit the audit trail though and when I visited it, there was no "109GB downloaded on 29 may" entry.

THANK GOODNESS

EDIT: Then again mine was false usage reporting and not me just going over usage normally, so if its a system stuffup and saix.net reflects differently to telkomsa's internet then you have justification for getting out of paying it. If you went over it by actually doing traffic then its another story.

Maybe they are actually fixing their database as the information I pull off saix.net and off the audit trail of may, is within my local allowance.

As I said, actual traffic will record correctly and thus you will be billed for it, false traffic will record incorrectly thus the message I put in my post by telkom and has grounds for contestation.

"I didnt know that you were going to charge me for going over my allocated usage"

vs

"your systems reflect that I did 109gb in 60 seconds"

They will laugh at you for the former, they HAVE to correct the latter.

EDIT: on your usage site ever since "trial" was over the warning has been there that you may be charged if you go over your local usage, if you read that and still continued to go over well then thats just plain stupidity.

I feel sorry for the people who honestly didnt know they were being charged and for the people who got incorrect recordings (seems thats being sorted though) but if you just downloaded and downloaded...

What does belong Telkom in SA?
There are:
- phone lines to end user
- DSLAMs
- Main distribution Frames
- Internet Backbones
- Internet exchange points
- international/intercontinental connections

Look guys, we can talk about this all day, it's not gonna help me pay my bill.

WHAT WILL HELP is if some of you offer to donate some much needed cash.

I'll accept anything from R10 to R100.
PM me for my banking details.

It'll be GREATLY appreciated and I shyte you not - I'm karking here!
/me is poor white boi!

Okay, I just got home and there is another Telkom bill waiting for me.
Weird, as I got one the other day!

Anyways, I open it up and bam, its a bill for R1692!
It's the normal layout for a Telkom bill but at the top it says "Telkom BIS" and "Event for Account Adjustment" and yeah.

That's all it says for the bill.
It's for May '08.

I did, according to SAIX.net 127GB of traffic, minus 30GB of cause because I have a 3GB account, so if you do the math, it comes to R2400±, why I'm getting this, I don't know :(

You guys think this is for 'over' local usage?
Because seriously, I've checked this bill from top to bottom and it says NOTHING about what it actually is for except for "Event for Account Adjustment" which is R1484.59 ex vat.

according to my calculations you had to constantly download at full speed with a 4meg line for just over 24 days:eek: to get 127gb  is it possible on a telkom adsl line i don't think so

Wrong, it'll take just over 3.5 days to grab 127GBs worth at 420kB/s.
