OLD LAPTOP but need help with password .

Well i found my dads old laptop in one of my boxes when i moved..

This thing was with Noah on the arc!

But kinda want to start it,so i did..But seems it has a password..not the normal get into your desktop pass

the one when you press the power button and it's the 1st thing it wants "Password*"

phoned him he just laughed cause how would he remember it..so does anyone know how i can remove this?or get passed ..
 
Try this:

1. While starting up the laptop Hold down on the f8 button for boot options
Once displayed, Choose safemode or safemode with command prompt.

2. Once the PC has booted in Safemode, Go to start> Run> type Cmd Hit enter.

3. You'll see a black screen pop up.
(In Safemode with Command Prompt will only see the Blackscreen. So use this option only if you are not able to login to safemode.)

4. Type in: "Net User"

5. It will then show you a detailed little chart of all the User Accounts on the computer.

6. Choose which account you want to hack.

7. Say it says the user accounts are: Owner, Administrator and Guest, you will choose the account, e.g: Administrator

8. Now type: "Net User Administrator", information about the account will be displayed. This step isn't necessary, but it gives you information on other things you can do to the account, such as set it as innactive and delete it, etc.

9. Type in: "Net User Administrator*" (Note: Net User Administrator Asterisk) It'll tell you to enter a password, then again to confirm it. This will either change the password or make a new one.

10. Exit and reboot

That's for Windows, it sounds like OP has a BIOS password.

djbrendan, open the bottom of the laptop and locate the CMOS battery and remove it, put it back in after about an hour.

Also what brand and model laptop is it?

i know this works,but the device ,ram ect list doesnt even pop up then it asks "password " cant even get in BIOS :/ which i strange i've never had this deep password before

It's a BIOS password, can only be removed by either knowing it, removing the CMOS battery, using jumpers or using a built in administrator password which varies by brand.
 
When I worked for ABSA nearly 20 years ago, we had to scrap a few laptops becuase the users had forgotten their BIOS passwords. They were IBMs and not even IBM could reset the password.
 
Sounds like you got a pre-boot password, uncrackable and no backdoor method, either you find the password or it will make a nice paperweight.

PS:Try the most random passwords, DOB,the year it was bought,his name....just go nuts.

Can we also have the make and model please.
 
Some BIOS passwords are not cleared by removing the battery. In such cases you better know someone who can work on a lower level format to get it cleared...
 
If you need data off it just connect the hard drive to another pc but I suspect you actually wanna resurrect this thing which might not be possible unless you wanna dig really deep.
 
no dont need data of it..just wanted to get it clean and play bit with it...

but seems like it's a lot of trouble to go through just to get in.. so maybe just leave it!
ill try the CMOS of course but if that doesnt work it's going to be a nice big thing to keep my door open ..

Haha omg,This worked like a charm!! just made one..plugged it in ,pressed the power button and tedaa! "Password" is gone!!!

it went straight into windows..2000 :p
