old utorrent vs latest version

just an update on this, it was def the utorrent software

once i installed the old version 3.4.2 the speeds immediately picked up.

still not convinced on this version though as speeds were intermittent last night and this morning. 1.6 and 1.8 dont support win 7 so that's a no go

looks like i'll have to give other torrent clients a go :(

I used to love Vuze (née Azureus) but they do it as well.

qBittorrent is a wonderful piece of software though :)

The ads also tend to be a bit nfsw sometimes.
 
I thought I was being throttled... uninstall complete. It's sad after so many great years... I hope qbittorrent doesn't disappoint.
 
Ooh ooh I wanna plug my client too.
I'm using deluge simply because of the thinclient capabilities. I can run a $2 server in France with deluge daemon and connect to it via the windows version of deluge. No ads no bullshet.

There is a box under settings called limit utp connections or something like that. Untick it and you should be fine. I thought I was being throttled till I unticked that box.

Been using Vuze for a very long time. I just cant get the damn scheduler to work. I want to queue my downloads to only kick off after midnight. Thats the reason I switched to uTorrent

thanks will try that tonight, will this work with the latest version as well ? might as well use the latest if this sorts out the problem.
 
messed around with some settings yesterday to get rid of that "recommended" tab and ended up throttling the speed again :( anyway 3.3.2 seems to be the best, i googled advanced settings (for the ad removal) and all is working fine now.

i downloaded qbittorrent as well but will try that only once my current downloads are done.
 
ok...not sure...if this is the right place...but have a curious case of : I have Telkom as my ISP and all my torrents are shaped...until midnight till about 7am...anyways, the other day...I loaded Vuze Mobile Torrent client to my phone...and loaded some content to download..the client is set only to use Wifi for downloads...and it was maxing out my line,...no matter what time of the day , I always get max throughput ...not that I am complaining...but any idea why the mobile client is able to get max?

was the 3g switched off ? or do you have both the wifi and 3g on ?

if both are on there's a possibility that it will still use the 3g first - maybe check your 3g data balance and report back.

Nope Mobile Data was not active, all traffic was going over wifi...through my TelkomISP user account....I still get max throughput on my mobile, but my laptop version is almost completely dead...till around midnight...

You are not alone.

I'm using very old laptop for downloads server and then one night client updated to newest.

New client took 100% CPU load (actually 100% on one of cores) freezing client, effectively stopping all downloading (meanwhile using 100% of useful internet speed) until unfrozen in like half hour and it starts all over again.

Changed to Bittorrent and all problems above gone.
 
Thanks for the info, I thought telkom was throttling me. Saw this and installed transmission and now my downloads are cruising again.
