Allies Express is currently running a promotion if you are a new user, where you get a 30$ discount for orders over $450 and a $50 discount for orders over $750!! A few other smaller discounts coupons are available too, totaling $100. This is through their mobile app only!
So I ordered the 128GB Model (no additional accessories) and final price was $513.14 ~ R6527,81! Standard Bank somehow charged me R199 more on my credit card. I will still have to pay the import taxes etc so that's excluded.

Yeah, it's a fantastic device, you should get yours before the end of the month...
The lack of locally stocked accessories is really a pain. I'm using mine naked on the moment, not thrilled about it!

My daughter had one for about 2 months. I've played on it extensively and I can state, without a shadow of doubt, that the user experience is simply not comparable with the 3T.

Significantly better, yes. I wouldn't want to create unrealistic expectations for you, but it's chalk and cheese. If I were to compare using an Apple analogy, as I come from an Apple background, I would say iPhone 5 vs iPhone 6s.
My last phone was a 6s and this is every bit as good if not better. In fact I've seen a number of online videos comparing the 3T with an iPhone 7 and it doesn't fall very far behind.

Yup definitely a great price, 128gb of UFS2.0 storage might be overkill but paired with 6gb of ram... I plan on keeping this phone for a while!
Oh the extra charge was for the currency conversion... that's according to my friend who works at FNB

Does anyone know how to turn off the message preview for WhatsApp notifications?
I only want the icon to appear in the notification tray and not the message preview. The only way I get it to work is if I put all notifications on silent, it then gives the desired effect but without vibration or sound.

That's built into android, go to settings>notification settings>notification manager and you can customize notifications for each app. Turn off banners/popups
I don't get the option to turn off banners here. Only led, block all, show silently, hide sensitive info on lock screen and override dnd.
The desired option was within telegram for this particular setting.

Even the telegram notifications irritate me.
It still does the popup with the person's name, just with the message blanked out.
My Galaxy Note 3 did these notifications perfectly. Only shows the icon on the notification tray, with the person's name if it is the first message.
Swipe down and I can see detail if I want.
Very obtrusive when browsing.
Or even when showing content on your phone and the message is something you don't want the world to see.
Only option to get it away is to show notifications silently but then there's nothing.
If anyone knows of a way to fix this, let me know.
It was the same on my redmi note 3 and I'm not a fan.
