I'm also enjoying the new phone so far. Currently streaming Deezer over earphones and initial impression is that it sounds better than my N5. Have noticed that the power-button's position is a bit awkward, since it's easy to push it accidentally when changing volume with one hand.

Mmmmmm.... high average rating over just 8 reviews but so many serious cons and still a 4 star rating, from one particular reviewer?

I also noticed that review.
Weird rating it so high while listing all those cons.

+1

Bugs me too. I find the power button way too easy to accidentally press. Given its position, it's easily engaged when picking up the phone or trying to adjust the volume buttons. If it had a bit more resistance, it would have been fine.

I find the "do not disturb" slider a tad on the hard side though. It requires quite a bit of force to move up and down. Find myself using this more and more though.

Installing a custom ROM allowed me to separate the ring volume and notification volume - something the default OOS lacks.

I've seen some videos on YouTube where the black mask around those screen protectors actually block the very outer edges of the display.

I'll see if I can find the vid.

EDIT - video found:

Yeah. It's a real problem.

Mean while battery life with moderate use, continues to impress. Screen brightness at around 90%

Compared to the stuff announced at MWC, this must be the very best bang for buck phone around. Honestly if you have a 3 or 3T you should be fine until middle of next year, not even bother with this year's stuff.

It's certainly one of the best purchases one can make. Stunning phone.

Nothing beats the build quality of this device. No rear glass to scratch as it is all aluminium. It still thrashes the just released G6 performance wise apart from the display and camera in certain aspects.

One also has to remember that the OP3T is almost half the price of the G6. It's still currently the best phone on the market. Custom ROMS make this an attractive device too.

That is excellent, sounds like you are enjoying yours :)

Of course there is no perfect phone as you eluded to with regards to it not being the best at every aspect, but I must say OnePlus has really pulled one hell of a trick out the bag here, it's becoming more evident against the latest phones.

Makes me wonder what more they can do other than little refinements this year, maybe we finally see a WQHD Display and MicroSD support, these are the 2 things I'd like to see next with them, just to keep all us nerds happy.

I came from a Galaxy S6 which had a QHD display, honestly I find it hard to notice the difference between the displays. I think the only benefit of a QHD display is with VR. My S6 would severely lag playing SimCity Buildit and Riptide GP Renegade. Both these games are buttery smooth on the OP3T - no doubt the 1080p display helps with better frame rates. The S6 did go brighter in direct sunlight though.

The battery life of this device is incredible too. I get a day and a half with 4-6hrs SOT.

I ordered my 3T from the Aliexpress link posted earlier in this thread but now they are claiming that my location in Century City Cape Town is a "remote area" and I will need to pay them an additional $38. Has anyone run into anything similar? Century city is less than 20km from both the airport and the port in the CBD, I don't see how it could be a remote area.

That's very strange. There's been an error somewhere for sure...

After 1 week's ownership (although only 3 days' proper use)...

Pros:
- So many!
- It's zippy, the barely-customized OS feels practically like vanilla Android
- The battery life showed 30% left after a day's active use, including streaming via Deezer for 5hrs. This makes up for the lack of QHD
- no complaints with audio quality, both calling via the speaker and music playback over earphones
- the camera seems decent enough so far, don't need phone to create art-works :)

Cons:
- accidentally pressing the power button is a small nuisance
- I miss Do Not Disturb rules from stock Android, so I'll probably try to find an app which doesn't conflict with the slider button
- the slightly curved edges make finding a tempered glass protector challenging

On a side note, does anyone own a Nillkin Frosted Shield cover for their 3T? Seems to be a balance between quality and cost.

With regard to updates, will OTA updates not push to the phone without doing anything extra?
Does the OxygenOS not update at all once flashed?

Not sure i follow the second part.
The phone will alert you when there is an update available and then you can choose to download and install it. Phone reboots, installs the update then you can continue using it.

Someone in this thread mentioned using Opera VPN and setting to Germany, Why?
Also, see attached image.

What does the seller mean by 'Customised ROM not support update"
