Oneplus 3T

Pics of protector fitted to the phone?

Don't really have the equipment to do it justice but here goes. It's a bit of a fingerprint magnet though. And sunlight legibility takes a knock... Also I didn't get the application perfectly centered either. I seldom do. Not so easy to nail it...

Awesome - thanks. Must be one of the best fits in terms of size I've seen for a 2.5D screen.

Pleasure. Nothing beats using the phone naked but compared to the previous 2 screen protectors I've used, this one is streets ahead. Mind you, the others were absolute crap.

Hey guys, so bought my OP3T about a month ago and had the great fortune of dropping it face flat onto the tar :/ which has left me with a beautiful spider cracked screen. Anyone know of a place to do local screen repair, or do I have to send it back via my retailer (oppomart)? Thanks!

If you can source a replacement screen and some basic tools you can do it yourself. The phone is remarkably easy to disassemble since it isn't waterproof. Check youtube Jerryrigeverything for a full teardown video

I downloaded Oxygen OS 4.1.1 with Android 7.1.1 last night, surprisingly the phone feels even snappier with touch latency improvements to the screen and the capacitive keys. You can now double tap the recent capacitive key instantaneously to switch between last used apps, which previously had a delay. Plenty other bug fixes and improvements too.

I used the Opera VPN tool set to Germany to get the update notification, then paused the download and turned off the VPN to download faster. Had to switch the VPN on again to install the update. Haven't seen any 'downgrades' in battery life or other functionality.

The new open beta 4 has some nice improvements too, however I will wait for the official update of that. Its nice to see OnePlus rolling out updates so quickly and reliably. I think this is the second phone right now that officially supports 7.1.1 outside of Pixel and Nexus devices

Thanks for the reply. Do you know of a local place for parts or would I need to look to China? Also, I think I've only cracked the gorilla Glass covering, and not the actual screen, do you know if I can replace that separately? I'll check out that guys channel tonight, thanks!

From the video, the display is fused together with the touch digitiser and a reinforced plastic frame, so its difficult to separate them.

Check bidorbuy if you can source a screen, otherwise china

That would be great news! I don't even have money for it but I am already looking forward to see what update on the OnePlus3/3T the company will be releasing either this year or next year.

OnePlus has sort of taken the "boring" out of the smartphone device market for me. :)
According to Chinese*site*PCPop, the OnePlus 5 is expected to pack 8GB of RAM and will be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. The report states that the smartphone will sport hardware navigation keys, although the bezel will be slimmer than the predecessor. Because of more display real estate, the fingerprint scanner will be housed at the back of the smartphone, and the OnePlus 5 will be 7mm thin as well, slightly slimmer than the predecessor.

The report also states that the OnePlus 5 will sport a 5.5-inch 2K display (1080x2048 pixels), and the camera will sport a 23-megapixel sensor at the back. Furthermore, the camera will support features like optical image stabilisation, zoom, and fast flash.

Previous reports*indicate that the OnePlus 5 will sport a dual-edge screen and a 16-megapixel selfie camera. The Chinese company is also widely expected to bump the storage on the next flagship to 256GB.*

Enough said, right? Can't wait for an SA presence!

Yeah, I see Takealot is selling the 3T so maybe soon there will be more traction for the brand locally. We desperately need a local Oneplus repair centre though!!

Do the one from takealot work on our lte bands? I want to buy a 3t soon and saw they also sell them.

Apparently not, US model which is confounding...

And for R9.2k, better to get it direct from China via Aliexpress. Really the best option...
