OnePlus 8 series

After watching a couple more reviews, it seems to be a pretty damn good phone!

Definitely one of the best androids available by far, albeit a lot more pricey than before.

8Pro camera has really taken it up a notch with this release. Given that the camera software on OP's newer devices is usually fairly under cooked, I'm hopeful that we will see significant improvements in the next 6 months or so.... Also can't wait to see what results Gcam modules will achieve on this hardware....

Yeah, I'm over my period now.

Some issues with the camera but that will be addressed with software fixes no doubt. Might contemplate the T variant later this year...

My favourite review so far;

Seems OnePlus has definitely raised the bar this time round. I like it... Still don't like that punch hole camera though.

Yeah, you not alone. Common consensus is that it's a step backwards. Look, I think it a decision made from both an engineering and cost perspective. The challenges were weight, space, IP certification and cost... think we'll see an under screen camera launched with the 9/9Pro next year.

I'm more peeved with the dedicated color filter camera and MEMC. Those strike me as 2 gimmicky hardware and software additions. Don't want to see OP go down that road. If at least 10% of your users aren't going to use a particular feature or function, it's not required and/or worthy...

OnePlus have gone full throttle into flagship territory and ditched their original design ethos behind. The OnePlus 9 series will hopefully bring a bring them back down to a grounded reality... We don't want another Samsung.

After viewing different initial reviews my thoughts on the OnePlus 8 Pro:
Excellent display and performance
Great battery life
Improved cameras still lacking in some areas
Finally wireless charging and IP rating
Don't mind the hole punch
Ridiculous charging ability
Nice colours and design, not breathtaking though
Good audio

Price may have gone up but still undercutting some phones

May not be a flagship killer brand anymore but they are not trying to be and the premium price offers premium specs.

This is just my honest thoughts

Listening to the reviews and doing some reading there are so many "features" that could have been dropped in favour of keeping price well below other flagships while still offering flagship performance where it counts. A missed opportunity sadly :(

For example? I thought Memc and color filter lens... but that’s about it...

Those you mentioned, plus the likes of 30W wireless Warp charging/reverse charging and then the likes of what I'd deem only "essential" because they appear in big brand flagships such as the 120hz screen, 12gb RAM option (especially considering the supply constraints currently) and official IP certification.

Why not just focus on the stuff that people use the most? Give us the biggest battery you can squeeze into it with the latest and greatest CPU/GPU combo that the flagships are using, pair it with the proven camera hardware (and spend the time getting the camera software to compliment it), built into a decent, solid shell (nothing too flashy) with a bright, high rez screen. If they could do this and shave 150 to 200 dollars off the price of each unit they could really upset the big boys.
