Enough drama...

I'm loving this thing- I had to root it to get all my stuff over from my S3. Pain in the arse.

I tried Helium backup (apparently works without root) but wasted too much time, so I gave up and went back to what I knew: Titanium Backup. Everything is now how it should be.

My Nillkin Screen Protector arrived this morning, with the Cruzerlite Bugdroid case. Nillkin is great- east to apply and no bubbles or dust issues :)

The Cruzerlite isn't as good: the sides don't grip the phone as much as I'd like... I'll need a few more days with it to give proper feedback though...

OPO :)

I no longer need to use backup software. Nova Launcher Prime, mSecure and WhatsApp create their own backup files, my contacts, tasks, Hangouts and calendars sync to Google, Simfy and Firefox are always in sync etc. Redownloading apps is a slight pain but only needs doing once in a blue moon.

What are you backing up that warrants such hassle?

Headsup: Seems like the customs clearing agents are catching on to guys claiming that their packages are "Refurbished Oneplus Media Players"

They are requesting certificates to backup the refurbished claims, and it might delay your package for a few extra days. Not too sure what the actual tax implications are, but I thought Id share in any case.

How'd you hear this?

Guys, watch out installing 3rd party wallpaper apps. I got a message "unfortunately, cm lockscreen has stopped". Similar to this. Managed to sort it out, but very hesitant to change anything about the lock screen now. I think CM knows about it and is trying to sort it out

Yeah I heard there was a bug in the latest 38R update that can cause issues with the lockscreen but if you change it under themes/lockscreen wallpaper then its fine.

They really need to do more QA before they release updates as that's quite a serious issue

It rendered my phone useless. I had to work really hard to turn off the lockscreen, by trying to interact with the screen. Hopefully they push an update soon to fix this

Was it a manual update or OTA?

OTA. Everything of mine is stock. Just had a theme downloaded from the play store, and a 3rd party wallpaper app. When I tried to change the lockscreen wallpaper, it went bezerk

The implications can be fairly severe, which is why I stated my values fairly. It's a crime to defraud customs. They could confiscate the package and impose a hefty fine, although if you manage to confound the issue enough they might do something much less severe.

Meh, so I defrauded them of R500 or so. The intent of charging customs is for the resale of the item, but mine is for personal use. So I have no problem "defrauding" them

That's not the only intention of import duties. The rates of various items vary in proportion to the effect that your import has on local industries.

I don't give a damn whether or not someone deprives our useless government of more money to put in their back pockets. I'm just saying that deceiving customs is seen as fraud and can potentially be a serious crime. On a small scale though, they worst they would probably do if they caught you is impose a fine and confiscate the goods.

Ya, well. I don't care that much. Just glad I got my phone and saved myself some cash by undervaluing the thing. I feel sorry for the guy that has his stuck at customs though. Maybe people shouldn't call it a "refurbished" unit, but just a media player. Customs is none the wiser as to how much you paid for it

Interesting quirk I've got - when people send calendar invites to my gmail, they come through totally blank, even though same mail is perfect on my PC. Never had the problem before on Android, anyone else experienced?

All apps and settings- I've tailored most apps to my liking- to back everything up and restore on a new phone is great. Beats having to find all apps (~50), install them and set them up...

Also, one or two games & their progress :)
