Well I used nybox, they were ok, but have read some reviews of them that don't make you want to send your stuff to them. From the looks of it, everyone that's used Stackry has been very happy with them

Thanks for that. Might use Stackry instead then. DHL doesnt seem to allow insurance of items over $200... so ill have to ship with FedEx then I guess.. more expensive though

they seem to have the case i want too. jut not in the colours i want....

Ask them if they can get your colour? For me, it's a lot easier when someone else can handle all the shipping and customs

I feel the same :( Now ill have to put my Afrihost sim back into its little MiFi again...

My main sim is Vodacom Prepaid, I decided to buy one of those Vodacom 12*2GB for R1499.

Only one problem, even though the T&C state that each 2GB monthly allocation is valid until the end of the following month, it seems that it is only valid for 30 days, as per *111# balance enquiry. Have taken it up with them.

I'm really not getting the battery life that everyone else seems to be getting. It will last the whole day, but will be at about 10-20% at the end of it. With around 2-3 hours SOT. Maybe I should do a reset? But I really don't feel like downloading all my apps again :(

Just find the problem app. Check your battery stats. If it's not one or two apps being a problem then make sure you don't have stuff syncing or checking for updates too frequently.

I want to get myself one of these. But my experience with importing stops at a bunch of pens from Aliexpress. I'm thinking of getting the 16Gb version, but with the bamboo cover, for no other reason than I think it looks gorgeous, and I never really use that much space on my phone anyway.
Can anyone give me some pointers as to how I can go about buying one if I get an invite? Can I buy with my normal SA credit card? How do these Stackry and NYbox things work? I read that if you use the Stackry New Hampshire warehouse, I don't pay sales tax, is that what you guys did?

Yup, SA credit card, Stackry & Fedex.

Fedex was a bit expensive, but they warned me off DHL because the low-end DHL that they use ties up with SAPO EMS, or so I was led to believe.

I shipped some bike parts from Germany via "DHL" and yip it's now somewhere in the pile of crap at the international mail center! Make sure you use DHL Express if you want it couriered to you!

Yes, that is how I understood it as well.

Thing is, there's nothing out of the ordinary, check the screenshot. In this case I got 2hrs 45mins SOT. and I've increased sync intervals, screen brightness, etc

Jman, I get about the same, but reckon its just because I use my phone more heavily during a day than others...

Alright, thanks. Was just wondering because some say they can get about 6 hrs SOT. I never get that. I guess it depends on what kinds of things you're doing

That looks like good battery life to me. 66% remaining after over 24 hours and nearly 3 hours SOT.

That little 'LTE' icon in the corner might be an issue if you're constantly using wireless networks. It uses much more power to maintain a mobile data signal than a wifi one.

It's only at 66% because I started charging (see on the right), it was almost dead after 24 hrs. I suppose I'm being a bit unreasonable about it, but only because others were saying that they can get like 6 hrs SOT, or like 2 days out of it. I just can't. You're right about the LTE, will try forcing 3G and see what results that produces

It's not so much 3G vs LTE, but mobile data in general. It just uses a lot of battery. My phone spends most of its time with wifi. You could try installing BetterBatteryStats and seeing an extremely detailed breakdown of what is using your battery life. A particular app could be waking the device a lot, which wouldn't necessarily show up in the system battery stats but would have a devastating effect on battery life.

+1

Mobile data drains battery much faster than wifi. During the week when I'm at work, I get 2 days. On weekends out and about with LTE on, the drain is much quicker.
