Thousands of Israelis apply for weapons permits

Tel Aviv - Thousands of Israelis have applied for permits to carry guns, following an unprecedented wave of Palestinian knife attacks.

Israel's internal security ministry says it has been inundated with requests, including by combatants who have asked to be allowed to carry their weapons off duty, guards, police volunteers and regular civilians, Israel Army Radio reported on Monday.

The ministry's telephone service has collapsed, with citizens saying they are unable to reach anyone.

Citizens say they are also unable to schedule an appointment for an interview, a requirement before a permit is given, via the Internet.

The ministry said it was aware of the problem, it was doing its best to process requests and that it had already doubled the number of employees in the office.

Yes, a bad scene, and people will be held accountable.
However...NOTE how many people were trying to protect him. Have you ever seen ONE!!!! Palestinian trying to protect an Israeli that was being attacked? ONE???
Here we have numerous civilians trying (in vain) to stop further harm from coming to him. It is sad that they failed, but they tried.
You NEVER see that from the other side.

Worse happens here in SA every day by mobs to suspected criminals. Usually followed by "give that man a Bells" or something equally pathetic.

Israel’s Dismal Record of Arresting and Convicting Jewish Terrorists

A report published in May by Yesh Din, an Israeli group that provides legal assistance to Palestinians, looked at the fate of some 1,000 complaints filed with Israeli police over alleged violence by settlers between 2005 and 2014.

The study found that more than 91 percent of investigations were closed without indictments being filed. In the overwhelming majority of these cases, around 85 percent, the investigation was closed due to a failure to find suspects or collect sufficient evidence to file charges, the report says.

Only about 7 percent of investigations lead to charges being filed, according to Yesh Din.

For cases that do end up in court, almost 23 percent of indictments are dropped or thrown out, while nearly a quarter of trials end with a guilty verdict but a decision not to convict the defendant. This measure of leniency – which is often applied to minors or people without a criminal record – is used unusually liberally with settlers, the report suggests, noting that such an outcome occurs only in 5.3 percent of cases tried in magistrates courts and 1.2 percent in district courts.

Only a third of the trials end with a full or partial conviction, which may result from a plea bargain, according to the report. Taking into account the amount of indictments originally filed, this means that for Palestinian victims of Jewish violence there is less than a 2.5 percent chance of the perpetrators being found, tried and convicted.

The problem here is that you used facts and proof to sustain your argument, it does not go down well with the Pro Isreali's. A new story will submerge and a new wave of we are the victims will surface.

Maybe its not just as simple as this but I asked before and the question was ignored, what would you do if one day a group of people come up to your house and throw you out ? Your family ? Your friends, your mom and dad and brother etc. ?

We see how the Israeli illegally expand their settlement daily yet we are surprised when settlers get attacked ? It just mind boggling how anyone can see it any other way.

Just to show how sick this religion is. How they can teach a child to behead. How they fill him with hatred from such a young age. This has nothing to do with Israel/Palestine, this has to do with the religion of peace
