Openserve - Afrihost double speed promotion.

So you're saying we don't have to change anything on our side, it will happen automatically?
 
So Openserve increased the 50Mbps line to 75Mbps from 1 April 2023 and the price charged by Afrihost will increase with R50 pm.
So it will not be a free upgrade.

Genuine question, as I'm not an Afrihost client, did Afrihost have a price increase last year?
 
Speed upgrades but always with a price increase? South African ISPs (OpenServe et al) are getting real greedy. Why can't we have Romania-esque fibre prices?

There are wholesale price changes with the new speeds. I expect other ISP's will also increase prices unless they can absorb a substantial amount each month.

Was this early in the year? I honestly don't have too much of a problem with businesses implementing an annual, inflation related increase.

The problem is, everybody does it, every ****ing year, and my salary is not keeping up.
 
What happens if you dont want this promo and wanting to keep the same package we are on with the same price. Rather then sending and email stating we giving you more bandwidth with a price increase as of 1st April
I think you should ask your clients if they want it first

They resell a product of which the underlying specifications have changed. Nothing is stopping you from downgrading to a cheaper/slower package

There isn't a cheaper slower package anymore, the 25/10 is becoming 40/25 with an R50 increase.

So 60% faster for 10% more.

Hi,

Unfortunately, the base line speed offered by Openserve has changed and comes with wholesale price changes. We are not upgrading clients and expecting them to pay more. Ideally, we would like prices to go down and speeds to go up.

Below is a graph of the speed and price changes for existing clients from the 1st of April.

So, the people on 500/250 get double shafted - no speed increase BUT price increase, nice OS, real nice...

Fortunately for you the honourable minister adjusted the tax brackets yesterday so you'll be saving a bit more than the R50 in tax.

Also, I'm assuming you'll be refusing any inflation adjustments to your salary this year?
 
I honestly dont mind the R50 increase, we can all agree that since loadshedding Openserve has been rock solid.
diesel and batteries need to be paid for lol.

its just minus 1 Mc Donalds meal.
