Hi

I have seen on a few ISP's sites trenching estimation costs mentioned in OpenServe fiber signups. I thought all their installs used the existing telephone poles ?

When I walked through my property the installer was only going along which telephone poles would be used and no mention of digging at all.

Has anyone had to pay this / have it done ?
What reason would there be for it ?

Thanks in advance

Trenching is a standard on their application forms and even through any trenching fee was covered by our estates contract we still had it on our forms, just a formality to say I guess.

The trenching cost that was mentioned to us was from the pole or box unit to the inside of the house, the fee is basically for those who might not have any current infrastructure and need to have a trench dug for the Fibre to reside in, this cost includes things like digging up paving and laying the proper spec housing pipe to.

In our case we had a ADSL trench from inside our study to the outside box so the Fibre was literally pulled through the same trench and connected no fuss.

Will depend on which suburb you're in.

Where we are there was no trenching, the line came from the telephone polls. guy took about 3 hours and i was connected.
