OpenSuse upgrades to 11.0

We use opensuse 10.3 on all servers and all desktops at work, so we cannot wait to get a hold of this. IS ftp server should have mirrored the DVD ISO within the next 24-48 hours so I will going there to download using my local account.

Don't they normally only have the dvd available as a torrent download in the beginning???

EDIT: Ok just checked dvd available on ftp/http download.
Just queued my Suse 11 download :D:D:D

I've been able to download it this afternoon, and it was 50% completed when I left work. :D

Will burn the ISO to a DVD once it passes the MD5 hashes :D

It depends, but there ought to be no problems. I have 4 OS'es installed on one of my machines: XP, Vista, Ubuntu and openSUSE. Each seems to be working just fine and can be selected from the grub bootscreen. A few years back i used Mandrake (now Mandriva), but I've moved on.

Personally I've seen great improvements on Ubuntu and openSUSE but I've been struggling to set my dual screen to work in it and get surround sound to work. But it always goes down to configuring some text files after consulting Google. :p

full installation should be as much as 60% faster than with previous releases

Thank goodness! The install took such a long time in the past.

I started on Suse 9.3 but since then I've moved onto other linux, perhaps it's time to see how it's doing again.

So Ubuntu is still more user friendly or ... ?

As a longtime OpenSuse user I'd be lying if I said no. For new users I'd suggest Ubuntu rather than Suse. That said and done, my OS of choice atm is still OpenSuse10.3 (soon 11.0)

Downloading via HTTP is really slow, but wget rocks
http://opensuse.mirror.ac.za/opensuse/distribution/11.0/iso/dvd/

Most laptops, desktops & 2 test servers at home are running Linux forcing
the family to switch, was so tired of spyware, worm attacks.

This 4.3 Gb download will cream my 3 Gb acc  will have to buy
a local account for local downloads

I downloaded Suse. I don't know which I prefer to be honest. I've installed the Slab onto my ubuntu. Same thing is then is it not? (I run Vista and Ubuntu 8.04 on my main desktop PC) Also, just got a shiny new laptop, don't you guys feel bad messing with the OS's? I don't know if I should install linux. What about the recovery partitions, etc?

I dunno, I like the readily accessible support forums (you guys and ubuntu forums..)
