i just saw on openwebs website that you can get a 4mb line uncapped all hours with no thresholds or throttling has anyone tried it out i want to know if it is worth it...thx

Well if u have around R3000 to waste, then its worth it

If you have ppl sharing your house, you could split it eg 4 ways but then you'll only get 1Mb/sec speed each. Still it's better at R750 pm than the competition, well except for Neotel.

I really can't see the point of a home user paying an aditional R2k just to get uncapped 4Meg during what is normal work hours.:confused::confused:

ISPs need to start advertising speeds of 128kbps if they limit lines to 128kbps. (Just an example)

This product is aimed at Corporate clients. We have cheaper alternatives for our home consumers.

Kind Regards

Well I have used the after hours one from Openweb, and basically I am getting line rate. I got around 320kbps with Telkom (which I still use for during the day) and am getting the same with Openweb. Haven't used it during the day though, but I see no reason why it would not be the same ...

This is a corporate package. As much as the price is very high, it still is an excellent deal when COMPARED to what other options are available. Most other packages will have thresholds and will only run at 1Mbit/s. I take my hat off to Openweb for taking a chance as well with month by month packages and not forcing clients into a 12 month contract. Personally I want to try the package for my company, but am waiting for Axxess to hopefully wake up and join the small group offering these packages as I would prefer to use them as my ISP of choice.

while throttled, the other packages run at the full line speed (eg 4Mbps if that is your line speed) during the specified 12hour period.

With 384k uncapped from Axxess @ R999 you can run at 4MB/s 64.2% of the time. I don't see the point of paying R1900 extra for the other 35.8%. Instead I'm using a TI 5gb account to avoid throttling. I've got a cron job on the router to switch default routes at 8am and 8pm weekdays. I just need to leave the heavy downloads to when the uncapped account kicks in, but I can still enjoy full speed internet during the day.
