Stockholm syndrome?

Stockholm syndrome, or capture-bonding, is a psychological phenomenon in which hostages express empathy and sympathy and have positive feelings toward their captors, sometimes to the point of defending and identifying with them.

This good sir is definitely NOT the case, I was just saying that I am shocked at the terrible speeds I am getting at 10pm at night on a 10mbps line, my father gets better speeds on his 2mbps line with Telkom... ai...

Having issues here as well, but also having the same issue on Afrihost. I think Cape Town may be having issues.

Sir, the first part of your post is understandable - known - by all.

I was commenting on this:

Do not understand why I can just not find a good isp :(

We have been through it before...

I have to eat my words now...last night was not good - speeds are down by 50% on my 4Mbps line on premium account. Use to get full speeds between 7pm and 7am up to yesterday. Wonder how other ISP's are doing - is this not country wide? Will give OW the benefit of the doubt for now.

BTW when last did this thread receive official feedback from an OW representative?

I cancelled yesterday with OW, their service really is bad. I was actually unable to browse, pages start to load up but never complete. It seems my "gold" account isn't so gold. Anyways, I got notified that my 1 month notice needed to be given before the 25th (which is in the ToS unfortunately). So I'm stuck in with their useless service for another 2 months, so decided that I would give my feedback on here about them on the off chance that someone here would read it and pick *ANOTHER* provider as OW is useless.

Bud tell them to shove their t's and c's because of them breaking their end of the deal and instruct your bank to stop the deduction. I can see me giving them the 30 days, but not 60 as in your case

Benefit of the doubt is for one month more...believe me there is no loyalty towards any ISP in SA...I seem to change every 6 months these days.

I did tell them to get ****'d, I told them that I am happy to serve out a proper 1 month notice and not this extra stuff they're trying to add on. Have instructed my bank to stop their deduction.

They gave me some generic...

"Please note, any monies due that are returned will be handed over to our Legal Department for collection.

We strongly advise you abide by the Terms of Service you agreed to during signup.

Disputes may be lodged by emailing legal@openweb.co.za"

Give them a reply with some info on how K@K your line is and you too can send them a lawyers letter. They will likely just back off. This thread is proof enough of their shocking service

Just so annoying that they used to be one of the better ISP's, and now they're useless and frustrating

Hi guys

Just to let you know. It's been a nightmare with Openweb so far legally just to get any information. They refuse to allow us access to anyone telephonically and refused to provide an address to deliver summons, they just say email ceo@openweb.co.za but no one ever replies on it.

If anyone knows the address let me know or i 'll instruct my legal team to go find it themselves at their own cost.

Here's their listing from CIPRO. You need to search for OpenISP and not OpenWeb.

http://www.cipro.co.za/ccc/EntDet.asp?T1=%D2%44%25%85%55%C1%19%B9%1F%B9%34%88%BB%AF%27&T2=OPENISP

Thanks guys.

The Cipro registering was quite a laugh. OpenISP put the telephone number down of their accountants. So when i called i got put through and another Director Athol or someone will call me back apparently.

This becomes more hilarious the more i dig into it. Still waiting on legal from IS to see what i am allowed to get information wise. Case number from the police still outstanding as they didnt understand it.............

Checked it out the address Google Maps. Could this be their office?

Simple facts:

OK, let's see if OpenWEB is an actual ISP...

1.) Is openweb an ISPA member? http://ispa.org.za/membership/list-of-members/

NO

2.) Does OpenWEB have an ECNS or ECS license?
https://www.icasa.org.za/Portals/0/Regulations/Licensees/Individual/I-ECS&ECNS-Database_0711.pdf

NO

3.) Does OpenWEB have IP address space, or an ASN (autonomous systems number)
http://www.afrinic.net/services/whois-query

NO

OpenWEB is not an ISP. They simply resell other ISP's network access.

"Unscrupulous" indeed, when the people that are supposedly throttling the internet access is simply the ISP that OpenWEB chose to buy accounts from.

Pot. Kettle. Oh wait. OpenWEB isn't even a kettle, or a pot.
