OpenWeb ADSL Feedback Thread (Pt2)

Look - I try hard not to complain about everything - but my patience is wearing thin, over the last 3 or so weeks things have seriously deteriorated. Over the weekend, things were OK, but now it's almost 8PM, i seriously doubt many businesses are still running, but look at my speed. I'm on a 4MB Silver.... This is NOT what I signed up for.

I tend to agree, unable to get more than 2MB on my 10MB account.

Hi so tomorrow Diablo 3 : RoS goes live , are we going to be shaped/throttled to the point where it is unplayable , or is openweb going to give the game some priority , as in the past it has been bad and i had to swap accounts for games during the day.

Some feedback on this matter will be great. this is going to be a true refection on the games King account , if gaming is unshaped or it is just a clever marketing gimick by openweb . but time will tell .

... and what, is he the only person there who can actually fix anything. What do the rest of the staff do? This is starting to piss me off. My 2MB account is running at 5kb/s. Seriously WTF?

Yea dude, i'm on 4MB Gamers King and i'm getting around the same download speed as you. Who know's whats going on lately.

The South (Western Cape and surrounds) is extremely busy tonight.

Shaping will be in effect here while the load attempts to clear.

We are hoping this will clear in the next few days

Cableguy, this is seriously sounding more and more like OW do not have enough bandwidth for their client base. I'm now on the 3rd account for March alone, and no sign of a solution on place

I am on the old Silver Package - 4Mbps Uncapped. This isn't offered anymore. I want to downgrade to 2Mbps. Would it be possible to downgrade to 2Mbps but still stay on Silver? Or will I have to change to a different package?

EDIT : Or should I rather take the 2Mbps Gold Power special. I basically only use the internet after hours, for Reddit, Hulu and Netflix and a bit of PSN.

What are the Hulu/Netflix experiences for other 2Mbps Uncapped users after hours? Will it be enough for one stream with also using Reddit or other basic browsing at same time? I don't need it to be HD, SD is perfect for me.

2nd Edit : Or will the 4Mbps Everyday suit my needs better?

OK since my username/password was changed by MrBEEP, the speed issue has been gone permanently.
However we now have the problem with disconnects. We did a lot of testing, it is definitely something in the exchange. Still waiting for Telkom to pull the finger out. A year ago they were fixing faults within 3 working days, now they take 2 weeks... really pathetic.

Last night the internet would not work, router synched and everything, including IP address and DNS obtained from the network, zero throughput. Eventually after 10 attempts the line got connectivity. Telkom sucks, Telkom Sucks, Telkom sucks!!!!

Openweb gold 4mb account,

during the day speeds are normal 300kb/s + from about 4 o clock at night speeds dip to maybe if im lucky 80kb/s now testing my main openweb account...afrihost and telkom from buddies all dog slow yet my ping is super nice 20 - 30ms so if it was high it would be congested exchange. but with low ping im a bit confused. db rates all 100% traceroutes also all 100% checked all of that any of you have some insight to my problem ? Also to add test 3 routers 3 pcs cellphones tablets you name it after hours still dog slow

Possibly congestion yes. I read somewhere on the forum a while back that exchange congestion is not always easily identifiable by checking latencies.

I would send TelkomZA a pm and ask him to look in to it.
