Im so sick and tired of openweb its not even funny. I pay for my internet each month and i expect a service but all i get in return is ****. This is no internet at all, my internet is never working as it should. I have 1mb 'Gamers king" - but the fact that my latencies are always spiking and that im permanently lagging determined that was all a lie. I never have my full line capacity or even 50% of it. But no when im behind on my payment for the month by even one day its a damned problem. But when openweb is a piece of **** ISP like MWEB who keeps throttling or shaping its nothing. The entire customer base must just take it AS IS and no one give a ****. Its always telkoms problem and never OPENWEB who is at fault. I have contacted Telkom so many times telling them to look for the problem etc as told my "MRBEEB". Telkom tests everything and no problems. I can barely load my google or even this forum to post this damned message. Took me 30mins just to get this page to load. SO PLEASE FIX YOUR **** OPENWEB. FOR ONCE IN YOUR LIFE. IF YOU CANT HANDLE THE BANDWITH UPGRADE YOUR SERVERS OR WHATEVER. DONT MAKE YOUR PROBLEMS OURS. THANK YOU FOR NOTHING ONCE AGAIN.

AGAIN A MESSAGE TO EVERYONE WANTING TO JOIN OPENWEB: STAY AWAY !!! WORST.ISP.EVER.

Let's lighten the mood after that borefest of a complaint.

Anyone here using Hulu and Netflix with Everyday Uncapped - 4Mbps. I'm on Silver and I'm thinking about downgrading my package as it is quite a big difference between R495 and R295. Don't use internet at all during the day. Basically just Hulu, Netflix, PSN and Reddit.

It's nice to know that in order for an ISP to better handle the 'bandwidth' all they need to do is upgrade their servers. And here we were blaming Telkom all these years. :D

This cracked me up as well. I work at a major University, current server count is 660+ last time I asked.
Love it when people call the Help Desk and ask "Is the server off?"

I do hope they resolve this for you asap!

OK since my username/password was changed by MrBEEP, the speed issue has been gone permanently.
However we now have the problem with disconnects. We did a lot of testing, it is definitely something in the exchange. Still waiting for Telkom to pull the finger out. A year ago they were fixing faults within 3 working days, now they take 2 weeks... really pathetic.

Last night the internet would not work, router synched and everything, including IP address and DNS obtained from the network, zero throughput. Eventually after 10 attempts the line got connectivity. Telkom sucks, Telkom Sucks, Telkom sucks!!!!

Hi. I know this has probably been asked a hundred times before but I can't find it.

I'm currently on the Gold Leon 2mb package and I'm considering upgrading but I'm not sure which of these two would be better.

I just want to know has anyone used the 2Mb Gold Orange and 2Mb Std Gold uncapped account?

I am more interested in the speeds during business hours than after hours.

How much of a difference is there between the two during the day?

I need decent download speeds in HTTP mainly but I also get files that I need to download from sites like "we transer", "Drop box" and other sites like "Upload.to", "rapidshare" etc

Preferably at least 1MB speeds during the day on downloads.

Any feedback would be appreciated

Thanks

Cheers. Have a safe journey

Hey dude - the ouke has a point, we pay to get a service, the ISP blames Telkom and Telkom blames the ISP, but the loser is the customer - what gives... ??

In the end - one expects to GET what you PAY for - no matter who is responsible to provide the service. It's like going to the shop to buy a bread, only to get home and there is nothing in the middle when you slice it open. The shop will say, well it's a bread, but the baker did not add enough dough ! You still end up with a dud !

Give the guy a break - I get where he's coming from.

Cheers

On the lighter side of life...I just remembered that I must go buy a bread... :D

What is quite astounding is the blatant lie that is being given to openweb customers. I have a Tier 2 technician from Telkom look at everything end to end. The call ended up with their engineers to look at Capacity from the bothasig exchange all the way to the hand off point. The tech connects using my line on my machine using a telkom account. works full speed.

He even upgraded the link as a temporary measure to 10 megs....full speed on the telkom accounts.

Openweb, for the 100th time, can you provide the proof that it isnt your network as the blatant lies you are peddling are old. I have on many occasions offered to put your tech on the line with a telkom tech to debate this and i only get "we'll give you another username" and the problem goes away............

We are not denying shaping at all, and never have.

Shaping will be applied to shaped accounts during peak periods.

Right now for example some parts of the country is still busy, therefore shaping will be applied. We do however notice the massive load in the South has seemed to clear, so things are looking better here currently.
