Alright will do, thx. This account is way faster in terms of latency, but its only started happening in the last 2 days or so

Right so i got my answer from Openweb. They do not have enough bandwidth for Gold account users so enjoy the shaping on torrents and NNTP until they either buy more or you upgrade the account to something better. That's the bottom line so as a gold user you suffer and NNTP / Torrents are effectively blocked.................

After two weeks of slow torrents I suspected as much. (Very similar to the experiences some AH users are getting)

Thanks for your post.

I was using a Gold Uncapped account last night, and torrents were slower but definitely not blocked.

We expect the load to clear in the next week or so.

We did not inform you that 'we are out of bandwidth'. We informed you that shaping will be applied when the network is busy. The network is busy, therefore shaping will be applied.

I pulled a couple of movies last night over p2p so torrents are definitely not blocked.

I also get weird ping spikes lasting sometimes minutes at a time, sometimes of 999ms, in BF4 and it is not that uncommon any more. Doing a port recreate at Axxess usually fixes it for a while, but what could be the cause? I have been kicked from servers for high ping every now and then, but it isn't that bad.

Trace route to the server, get the IP of the 2nd hop and ping it and Google while playing, when lag spikes occur look at the pings, if it shows the spikes then you know it's the line.

Disconnect all other devices on the network and connect your PC to the router via ethernet and make sure no downloads/uploads are running.

Ok so shaping a line on a GOLD account to use about 5% of the 100% is not blocking.

Stop trying to bull***** your way out of this. You people do not have enough bandwidth to handle the current load. I would expect acceptable speeds after hours and shaping totally removed.

Slower is a relative term......slower can be anything from 1% to 99% the speed of my 2 meg link...........which is your eyes would be acceptable as a paying customer.

My link is perfectly fine, i want to know why my account is shaped to ***** at 19:05 in the evening when it's a gold account, the 2nd best account your company offers to residential users at the time............seriously...........5% of a service isnt a service.

Tell you what, let me work out that i'll pay you 5% of the cost per day and we can call it quits...........at least we both get value for money then.

Both my Gold and Everyday uncapped account are running basically unshaped right now so the problem is probably with your setup. Where is the claimed 5% coming from?

Shouldn't be so bad after hours, have you tested with other accounts? e.g. WebAfrica/Afrihost 1GB free accounts.

Yes i most definitely have. I work with Telkom tier 2 guys and had them look at the line end to end, even upgraded to 10 megs, flies on telkom accounts (standard adsl vanilla uncapped).

i dont mind the shaping during the day, but this after hours shaping kills me.

@ woodlands...........if another ISP works with the same physical link at 5x the speed how do you blame the setup........3 different pc's all experience the same thing, 4 different modems.........openweb were so useless i had telkom pull in new copper........what next? fibre? A piece of copper doesnt decide "oh you are an openweb packet, let's ensure you sit in the lowest QOS class". the isp does.
