There is a broken cable, they are rerouting traffic to alleviate it. There is a broken cable which is causing congestion. Seacom is busy fixing a broken cable. Have I mentioned THERE IS A BROKEN CABLE?

All Openweb clients.

There has been a link failure on a redundant link. This link has been setup to relieve congestion caused by the Seacom outage.

Upstream provider engineers are attending, unfortunately Openweb has no time frame on a resolution.

Openweb apologises for the inconvenience.

Now my local speedtest is 0.16 Mbps, how is local affected by Seacom? It isn't. Therefore, there something wrong on OW side or due to heavy shaping.

I have NO international connection, this cable outage is since the 22nd why is it today dead ? Thought they started working on it already. I can not even open a website like youtube.

Update : Now it seems to be working again (*30 min Later ) Strange things are happening

Okay, but that doesn't explain why I'm getting slow local speeds on a capped product.

The redundant link failure has been resolved – International connectivity speeds should start returning to normal.

Openweb thanks you for your patience.

rakabos3. This cable break occurred on Friday and did not affect Openweb much. Sure, the speed was slightly slower, but usable. What we are talking about now is sudden drop to very slow internet. See the Openweb post on this page about a link failure on a redundant link.

Things indeed appear to be back to normal. Thanks OW.

Working but heavy spiky on the latency, feels very ON/OFF kinda :)

Hi MR BEEP,

Are you able to look into the speed problems on my capped 50GB account? I've been dealing with Charmaine, but she keeps blaming slow local speeds on the Seacom cable and the redundant link failure you experienced earlier, instead of actually investigating the problem.

I've been running speedtests all day and they've never gone about 512kbps d/l speed, but now that it's after 5 o'clock, it's flying again! I thought CAPPED accounts weren't supposed to be throttled / shaped. What gives?

super impressed with my OW gold account. If i didn't read mybb, I wouldn't know that there have been outages. My account hasn't missed a beat.
