I have actually had my line upgraded yesterday but there has been no improvement in speed whatsoever :(
 
Hey Friends,

I see the network is not very busy thus shaping is little to none currently.

Shaping is treated the same depending on which service level you are using. Basically, the network auto unshapes you if it is not busy. As this is dynamic, it all depends on the load on the network at any given time.
 
Doing a speedtest gives me full speed but its almost impossible to open a international page and gaming latencies are 1200+.

Support is going to tell you that the fault is Telkom related, sorry!!

I did PM MrBeep and he told me the data portion is only being upgraded 1 April. Glad that is the problem otherwise I would be a sad Panda. So will see on Tuesday how everything going :)

Ok so Finally cancelled my Mweb account. Considering Openweb Silver, just want to know if the silver package has a 10 day rolling window type thing? Dont want to be throttled after 30GB or so.

From what I understand, Openweb silver is essentially the same as gold, it's just less prioritized and probably a bit more shaped than gold. No throttling. Correct me if I'm wrong.
 
OW Silver uncapped 6Mbps international

Test conducted on 3/30/2013 11:18:29 AM

Download Speed: 4465 kbps (558.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 322 kbps (40.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 194 ms
 
If there is no throttling I will sign up on the 1st, reason for leaving mweb is mainly because of seacom. When I was on the c24 x 2 gconnect 1mbps accounts while seacom outage started it worked well, so im looking at anything IS related now.

This is why I left Openweb Gold coz my account will be blazing until one day its just dead meanwhile all other ISP accounts work fine. Email support, they send new log in details and back to blazing speed until the next time it just dies, rinse and repeat. With Plugg now since Nov, no regrets.

EDIT: And plugg has no 30 day nonsense

Have the same problem here are some of my speed tests
on a 3 meg vanilla line
Test conducted on 26 March 2013 08:25:11 PM

Download Speed: 93 kbps (11.6 KB/sec transfer rate)

Upload Speed: 407 kbps (50.9 KB/sec transfer rate)

Latency: 120 ms


Test conducted on 26 March 2013 09:35:33 PM

Download Speed: 188 kbps (23.5 KB/sec transfer rate)

Upload Speed: 324 kbps (40.5 KB/sec transfer rate)

Latency: 134 ms


Test conducted on 27 March 2013 12:31:48 PM

Download Speed: 957 kbps (119.6 KB/sec transfer rate)

Upload Speed: 424 kbps (53 KB/sec transfer rate)

Latency: 131 ms
 
Things blazing along here like usual.

Just want to say that the last 6 months with OpenWeb must have been the best internet experience I've had to date. I don't have good p2p speeds during office hours but for me this is not at all necessary and for the price I pay I get an awesome product with regards to everything else.

Hope it stays this way and Telkom doesn't screw something up :D
 
I have very up/down latency with online games, not sure if its OW though

The exact opposite for me. Speedtest gives a crappy reading, but webpages and downloads are instantly fast.
10mb Gold.

Int latency to london 173ms
Local latency 30 - 40ms
