Hey Friends,

Engineers are investigating.

We have however noticed an excessive amount of Microsoft Downloads taking place today, which is using ALOT of bandwidth. We believe the general slowdown across ISP's could be caused by this, as they have launched a large number of these last night.

We are working on a solution to control these in a more formal manner.

Was this the case yesterday aswell? I stayed at home to test my gold account during the day, i couldnt open a page or watch a 360 p youtube video. After 5pm all is well again.

If you are in the Western Cape and East London area, there was a Telkom IPC fault causing issues.

If not, please drop me a PM with your ADSL username so that I can have a look

was patch Tuesday in the US yesterday = we get patches today.

they release a bunch of patches every first tuesday of every month normally this month was yesterday. could be that.

solution: host stuff that gets used often locally instead of internationally has to be downloaded. dont know how difficult would be but would be much better keeping data local

Im in the Cape.
Is there any way that us users can be notified of these issues?Maybe a section on your website where you can tell users if there are faults on Telkom/Openweb/Seecom side or an email perhaps? So we dont sit infront of our PC's and curse :)
Thanks Mr Beep

Is there still a problem in WC at the moment? International is still very slow at the moment (not downloads, just browsing/ssh) on Gold.

Hi Seeyou,

Please read my post earlier in this thread.

Aah, I read back a few pages and missed the post about the MS Updates somehow. Will hold thumbs the bulk of the updates are done by the afternoon.

Kindly email [email protected] with your ADSL username so that we can investigate

I emailed support last night and received a reply at about midnight. I followed up again this morning. I only mentioned my problem on MyBB to see if it might be an area issue, but judging by the response of other forumites (or lack thereof), I am alone in my misery.

Engineers are working at controlling these downloads so that network impact is reduced. Some changes have already been made, but it will take some time to implement it across all the profiles and service levels.

Looks like something has been done, I'm BACK ON 10Mbps :)

Some of my technicians have now started to report issues with new Microsoft product activations, which is a possible repercussion of the efforts by ISP's to stabilize traffic.

TF2 pings.jpg

Anyone else experiencing this? Interesting that the guys on the servers with the highest pings were Openweb. Why are only the IS servers playable on a "Gamers King" account?
