I logged a problem yesterday, finally. This was after repeated times of finding my general browsing and emails via Google almost unusable during the day.

Instead of attending to my request for support, I had the support guy respond that he noticed I had used up 10Gb already for the day and that is an awful lot. I'm on a 4M uncapped Gamers King.

Now the thing is, that I'm not complaining about my account throughput or ability to download. I'm am generally very happy with my account. But even when not downloading at all, my browsing is unusable during the day. Why is this related to my throughput overall?

Can we have a clear and concise answer to this correlation once and for all please MrBEEP? The talk doesn't match the walk.

Are we to accept that there are punitive measures in place on our uncapped accounts. We are repeatedly told there is only dynamic shaping, but this simply doesn't add up. Why is it then that some complain of the exact same problem whilst others say all is working fine?

I had an overnight download of PS3 games running, but it had finished before I experienced the issue.

It is a consistent issue and it seems your support guys are not willing to look into it because I downloaded a lot. More punitive measures?

Please assist, I'd be very grateful.

Shaping is based on how busy the network is at any given time.

However, if you download during peak shaping time, and then try and browse, your browsing will be severly affected,

huh??

He asked if the 10gb already used was the reason, not if browsing whilst downloading, or am i misreading it?

No, the 10GB is given for informational purposes.

10GB's usage since midnight, when your ticket has been logged at midday, is an incredibly good throughput, and something I would not have an issue with if I was using the account. Considering the account type you are using, it is actually an exquisite amount of usage for the price for a few hours use.

Dude, you guys keep sidestepping the issue.

Let me be CLEAR!!
I DO NOT HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THE ACCOUNT THROUGHPUT AND DOWNLOADING!!

Stop harping on about how much was downloaded, it is irrelevant to my problem.

I stated very clearly that I was downloading some PS3 games overnight. When I experienced my browsing / email issues NOTHING WAS DOWNLOADING.

There is an insistence on deflecting from you guys now that I am finding very infuriating..

I LOVE MY DOWNLOADING ON MY OPENWEB ACCOUNT... IT IS NOT THE ISSUE. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THAT!!

Now please address my problem with my browsing and emails / Google.

C'mon guys, do better... I know you can.

Thank you

Kindly PM me your username so that I can personally test your account

It depends on which account you have.

Kindly mail us: [email protected] with your ADSL username and the request and we will take a look for you.
Hi MrBEEP. I emailed that address last week and exchanged some messages with Leon. As you said, it depend pn my account type. Leon said that it was in the development pipeline and that there was not much that could be done at this stage. But it doesn't feel secure nor convenient having to email support when I want my password changed.

Some of OpenWeb's account already have the ability to change the password through the client control panel.
Why does this facility not exist for all the account types?

Hi MrBeep,

Before I send through a support email, I just wanted to check if there is anything wrong with the lines today.
My Gmail is pretty much dead, cant even send a e-mail.
Downloads from certain locations are full speed but otherwise < 50KBps.

Same thing a few of us have been reporting:

A few of us have had the same issue- browsing just doesn't work at all during the day.

I've resorted to keeping the OW account for downloading, where I dial the connection. For browsing, and other devices (phones etc) connecting via wireless, I have a 5GB Telkom account (came with my Closer Plan) that is dialled by the router.

Openweb have consistently suggested my router or Telkom are at fault yet I haven't yet run into this issue from the 5GB Ti account or my previous Mweb account.

Anyway, I'm back with OW as for a downloading account it can't be beaten for value :)

Downloading = fine.
Browsing = ***.

Lines, no. Accounts, more likely...

I thought Openweb does not log usage stats of certain account. And now I see the support reps using them as an excuse in their emails. (I received a similar message of me downloading 18GB)

18gigs in how many hours?

Some accounts offer usage stats reporting now, as it has been quite highly demanded. Early stages though. I prefer not knowing to be honest

We offer a large number of products, on different realms and sometimes even networks. A one size fits all development solution is not possible. It is a work in progress so to speak.

MrBEEP, having speed issues. just sent you a PM with username.

I'm also on gamers king and have Google problems, normally peaking in the late afternoon, running the 8888 DNS settings. It is odd because other sites open fine, anything Google and you wait and wait

Nice to get home at 16:40 and have to fire up the back-up account to access the net. Gmail so slow it was stuck at loading, when it gone through, it was stuck at all the unread mail. Clicking like crazy to open the mail but all in vain.
