Hi Zertop,

Welcome to the family, even though it is just a visit :)

I will leave this up to the community to answer.

Heyo People

I can't really comment on these specific accounts as I haven't used one but I could probably give you two bits of advice:

1. These accounts are not meant for office hours use - they will be shaped during the day,
2. If you learn how to use these accounts ("cheap" consumer uncapped accounts) properly then OpenWeb will make you very happy.

By learning how to use it properly I mean things like: leave your downloading till after 6pm, use a proper download manager when you do download, don't have downloads going at the same time you need to use realtime services, ditch torrents if you use them - sure they will work but the IS news server is a much better solution.

If you need to be free of these restrictions then get a business account - but this can be said for any consumer uncapped account.

Thanks! Im currently with Afrihost Uncapped 10Meg - but I was just wondering as Ive heard good things about the openweb network. My downloads start at 7ish and i stop them at 5am.

I use around 150GB p/m... would this be considered acceptable on a consumer account such as this one?

I use close to 120GB on a 1MB line and ive never had any issues.... I can guess I can get more but I only use what I need.

last month i used 105gb with my 2mbps gamers
and so far for this month i am on around 50gb

and its all still going good

and 150gb is nothing :) esp when u use a 10mbps

not openweb,

i wont say name but i also know of a few :)

those that do it,is just...
its almost like shoft CAP

when u hit 30-40 gb u get trottled to a slow speed

just like shoft cap when u get capped, get slowed down alot

give openweb a try :)
u got nothing to loose,

yea but you know :P Some ISP's find that as abuse

Some ISP's, once the have you trapped in their WEB will start moaning about bandwidth, but don't worry, they will happily bill you full price and throttle you down to 5kb/s. I believe the throttling during the day is quite fair, and honestly, surfing etc. works perfectly for me and I'm on a 1mb account. After 17:00, downloads run at full speed, no throttling there.

OpenWeb also has support staff that respond with more than the company script, so you get answers and results, which is more than I can say about quite a few ISP's.

150GB/pm on 10Mbps is more than acceptable, at least in my opinion (I know MWEB may disagrees :D)

That is perfect. You shouldn't have problems with browsing, email and even streaming and gaming usually during the day. HTTP downloads, NNTP and P2P will be shaped though. At 5PM the floodgates start to open and you can download away. I do nearly 300GB a month on my 4Mbps Gamers King account and I never get any grief about that. In fact, I have been assured by MrBeep that I wouldn't.

Welcome

but not my problem :)

i am still stuck between gold orange and gamers kind (4mbps) wish one to get

For your purposes the Gamers King should be fine. You can always upgrade if you don't agree later on. That is what I am on and I don't have any complaints.

i also thought that but wont the gold be faster and more stable in streaming?

Agreed. You can upgrade your account at any time, just remember that you can upgrade instantly but you have to give calendar month notice to downgrade.
