Gold Capped has a lower contention ratio compared to Freedom.

Business users and discerning home users choose Gold for the best possible ADSL experience :)

Thank you, still waiting on telkom to sort out my internet. Once everything is up and running, I would like to change to a capped account. Is it an easy process to change?

Are there any plans in the pipeline to auto upgrade the uncapped account speeds by OpenWeb?

No, but my understanding is that's what Everyday Uncapped was released for. The prices are competitive vs the competition and I believe offer similar contention ratios to the new packages offered by the other ISP, or their speed upgrades...

I would like to change my current 4mb silver uncapped account to the 4Mbps Gamers King Uncapped package. how do i do this?

Log a ticket, email support, or PM MrBEEP. I'd suggest emailing them or logging a ticket as the first port of call and using MrBEEP as a last resort...

is anyone else having a crap interwebs today? cant watch a utube vid browsing is really slow :(

So, posts on forum, 2x pm's and still no reply. not sure what to do anymore. Gamers King / downloaders Bling at half speed for some time now. Anyone else having this? totally fed up really.

YouTube is buffering terribly today, even though I'm getting great speed tests (relatively for my line) on my 3Mb line...

Last Result:
Download Speed: 2158 kbps (269.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 415 kbps (51.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 41 ms

EDIT: problem appears to be an international connectivity issue

Download Speed: 501 kbps (62.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 394 kbps (49.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 209 ms

I've often found that during working hours the line is unusable, the around 5-6pm fullspeeds again.
Im fine with this because i only torrent,Openweb is fine with my excessive usage (330g/mth 2mb line), so we both look the other way and are both happy i guess.

I would not be a happy camper if i were to have this line and be permanently at home , that is what business adsl lines are for.

Half speed during the day for downloads? That's winning on a gamers.

Upload Speed: 394 kbps (49.3 KB/sec transfer rate)

Something not right with international...

I am more interested to know what will happen with accounts that were obtained on special - I can fully understand not upgrading client's for free, that just leads to a bad service level. I don't mind slapping an extra R50 Openweb's way (as per the current 2MB Gamer's King Special). I haven't checked the website too heavily but it doesn't look like Gamer's King is normally available. I would only like to get the upgraded account once Telkom bestows a free line speed upgrade on me which may be in a week or 3 months. Knowing my luck, 3 months, so obviously wouldn't want to pay for something I can only half use.

DJ, I'm getting the same as well - browsing and streaming is practically impossible, yet speedtests (when it eventually connects and runs) is perfect. However, it's not just international websites, it's locally hosted content as well.

No exchange congestion, no background downloads, line fully operational (and even got Telkom to do a port reset). Tried 2 other ISP accounts and they seem fine, so the issue is most likely on Openweb's side.

Couldn't access OpenWeb's site this morning, but was eventually able to send MrBeep a PM.
