OpenWeb ADSL Feedback Thread

I'm getting similar slow speeds on the Gold uncapped 4Mbps Business ADSL account. Have mailed support and wait to see what is transpiring

I was moved to SAIX this morning after complaining about the slow torrents. Seems okay so far. HTTP and Steam runs full speed, but torrents have only increased to about 4kbps. Will see what it does when the shaping is lifted later tonight and then provide feedback from there.

It's time to move on for me I'm afraid, just too many issues too often.
This time, one of my Gold Uncapped 4mbps accounts is throwing authentication errors. Logged a "Critical" ticket an hour and a half ago, still no response.
Just hasn't been the same since VB was canned. VB performance even convinced me to move another account to OpenWeb.
Email has been sent to [email protected]. I have a feeling I can find a better home for my 2 accounts at this price (probably even cheaper).

Hi efitol,

We replied to your ticket shortly after posting it.

It is sad to see you leave, and have faith you will be back soon as it is rough out there!

The saix account is working great for me. Getting full speed on NNTP. Browsing is nice and fast and video streaming is running smoothly. Will see how things are tomorrow and update here.

My YouTube Video's are buffering, on my 1mbps line, at 360p. This has never happened before. I did a speedtest to a Server in JHB, hosted by Vodacom and I got:

Could I have been throttled by Openweb already? I have used about 40GB of internet this month.

My VB account (1 mbps) is running very slow and erratic lately, where it was mostly OK before.

Since Telkom upped my line to 2 mbps things have gotten worse for me, contrary to what I would have imagined.

But I want to retain VB, so I'll just wait it out.

What backbone is the best these days?? I used to be on a VB account back in the day when I had 384 kbps and felt compelled to download the whole time but since I moved to 1 mbps about 4 months ago {and then 2 mbps} havn't had much stuff to download so was content with the DSL heaven {among other} accounts I had but now I want to download some stuff again the account performs quite horribly for downloading {the general browsing experience was fine} have e-mailed them and asked for a switch just curious what everyone is using these days?? And what's considered the best??

Thanks

Edit:

Lol maybe I spoke to soon is there a cable break somewhere or something, this is what gmail tells me when I try and log in...

Just so everyone what a tool Keoma is. I complained about 1000ping and slow speeds at 11pm at night on my 2mb gold uncapped account and asked to be moves to a diff backbone. This was the response:

Hi Martin

Thank you for your email.
Initially you said your speed is slow. Now it is the latency.

Please be specific. What is slow. Torrents? Latency?

My tests are not duplicating your results. I ma not giving you ‘excuses’, I am troubleshooting your issue. If you have a problem with the way I do this, please email [email protected] to further troubleshoot.

I am helping you as a favour. I have MANY MANY things I have to look after on daily basis, and support is not one of them

Hi MattyW

What is the current backbone you are on?

Please email [email protected] if you would like a backbone switch

Hi Graal,

Correct, Gold uncapped NEVER throttles. Depending on the package you have, it is shaped on downloads and similar, however, after hours the shaping is lifted. This includes weekends

Are you on Gold or standard uncapped? As far as I know, Gold Uncapped isn't supposed to have throttling.
