Hi Jacques,

You should not experience a degraded performance after hours, as we have ample backup capacity in place.

The next time this happens, please open a ticket so that we can investigate.

Naturally, during office hours, (especially today) there will be increased shaping as all the corporate and business clients are back online performing updates, downloads and syncs, making the network very busy.

This should clear in the next day or so, which will automatically decrease shaping levels again

Just to report back. I logged a call and they told me to request a port reset from Telkom which I did. However, when I got home from work at around 17:30 my connection still felt average based on international speedtests but the experience overall did feel a bit better. Youtube 720p streaming effortlessly, torrents flying etc. I just ran an international speedtest now and all seems good again:

Test conducted on 4/2/2013 9:52:47 PM

Download Speed: 6063 kbps (757.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 754 kbps (94.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 197 ms

Thanks Openweb team, hope it lasts.

Hi Jacques

Seems like your port went a bit haywire.

A port reset from time to time will do alot more good than harm

Anybody else having any issues still? My PPPoE connection just died, reconnected again then worked for a few minutes but now not getting any throughput.

Connected with a cybersmart account now, seems fine.

Anyone else having connection issues this morning? I have no connectivity. Did mail support, just waiting for their reply

My account was fine again last night and then this morning it is back exactly where it was yesterday during the day, i.e. local speedtest is fine, but international download speeds horrible (less than 100kbps). I opened a ticket yesterday and they blame Seacom.

MrBeep; can it really still be Seacom to blame? How can it work full steam after hours and then crawl to an effectual stop during the day?

MrBEEP, isn't there a way around having to change login details each time something goes wrong with an account? It's not viable for me to change details so often (second time in two weeks)?

Sometimes a problem can be resolved without doing this, but sometimes it is unavoidable.

At all depends on which network / account type we move you to.

Yeah, I'm shaped to crap again today as well. Perfect after hours, unusable in the day time :( Have contacted support, just like yesterday...hope that actually respond today.

There are no network issues currently.

If you experience a problem, kindly email [email protected] so that we can investigate.

Please include:

* Your ADSL username
* An example of a file you are trying to download that is not offering optimal speeds
* A tracert to www.openweb.co.za

They responded to me again today and furnished me with new account details with alternate routing apparently. Speeds not back to full, but more in line with what one might expect from shaping. Hope it lasts.

Thanks Leon!

Does that look normal? Why does it go through MTN Business? Just curious. Thx
