So am I being throttled, shaped or murdered - Local speedtest on 6mBps silver uncapped:

Test conducted on 4/5/2013 1:53:48 PM

Download Speed: 91 kbps (11.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 473 kbps (59.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 31 ms

The issues experienced by some users have no trend at this stage.

If you experience a problem its best to notify support so that we can deal with each case individually. I think the issues are related to a range of problems, including Telkom exchanges.

Please can I ask what they did, or what do I ask for when I email them again? My symptoms are the same as yours....

QUestion for MrBeep: Seeing that these problems seem to be affecting mostly new subscribers, could it be anything to do with the "buy one get one free" deal? Could IS be enforcing a 2Mbps total over both accounts? This could explain why speeds are so erratic
if one account is running at max speed, it would leave little bandwidth for the other at that time?

Please email [email protected] so that we can investigate

Exact problem I have. I logged a fault with Telkom as per MrBeep's recommendation as they cannot replicate it.

Support supplied me with a new account after I also encountered speed issues all week but websites don't want to load on the new account :(

Did mail support last night but haven't heard back yet, I will PM my details to you for follow up. FTP download speed currently 2KB/s from local site :(

Scratch that, mail was still sitting in Drafts. Have sent it off now.

Thanks.

I will take a look for you

I was given a new account on a different network by Support and it's working much better than my original account :)

Upload speeds are faster than download speeds and websites time-out? I am in the Eastern Cape (HEY! stay away from my copper wire)! :) I have email support to see if they can replicate what is wrong with my account. This have been happening since I got home at 1pm and just want to see if there any gremlins as my port has been reset and line re-synced and still horrible speeds and browsing.

I am back in the game! This is the first time I have been home during the day for a month - I really hope things are not always crawling like that for me during business hours (of course we get a little shaped during business hours and that is understandable) - but my account was unusable. I am paying for a Gold account not a Mould account. Will have to swing by home more often during the day and see if this is happening all the time. ;)
