Hi Aardvark,

Kindly email [email protected] so that we can take a look.

The network is running well below capacity, thus all is unshaped at the moment

Anyone having slow international downloads.
Mine are running at a third of the speed.
Local is good on the newsserver.

There is nothing wrong with tweaknews, I have been using them for about 4 months now and have no issues. Both SSL ports work hundreds with my standard uncapped.

I'm finding that sometimes my NZB's fluctuate a lot. Goes from line speed down to almost zero then back up again. It just keeps going back and forth like a yo yo. Any idea why? This is using Tweaknews SSL and my Openweb account.

Currently pulling;

Borderlands 2 on Steam
BF 1942-BF3 on Origin
Antivirus updates
HTTP driver updates

+ Streaming on Hulu.

Have no idea. My tweaknews account has been flawless no matter what port I have it on.

Mr.Beep,

My account user name has changed 3 times because of authentication issues. Have got this issue for the fourth time. I am not facing any issues with Afrihost/Mweb.. Also, the time the new user name was given, my speedtest shows just about 1 mbps (hovers around 0.98).. so used to the 150% speed that I usually get.. Also torrents are a snail.. can you please help? Sent an email to support anyways..

Same, although I wouldn't say fluctuating, just slower after hours speeds than normal. Picks up later in the night

I see you are using a 1Mbps account on a 2Mbps line. Thus the slow speeds.

I see leon is working on your query and offered you an upgrade.

Replied back to Leon. As far as I know, I only have a 1 mbps line. Hence, upgrade is out of the question. But the real problem is authentication error. I am using AfriHost currently..

You said: "so used to the 150% speed that I usually get". This would show a 2Mbps line connected to a 1Mbps account. Im afraid our accounts should not allow for speeds above the 1Mbps you have purchased. Perhaps in the past this limit was not enforced correctly. I will look into this.

Your account name changes because Openweb shares accounts between users, they don't just randomly assign you something for "security". When you have slow speeds its because the other person using that account is downloading heavy and taking up the account bandwidth allocation. When you can't auth it's because that other user changed their password.

This theorem has been discussed numerous times.

There is no point in 'sharing' account details when we run our own IPC powered by IS. Please refrain from cluttering this thread with nonsense.

Doesn't change the fact that for some users it's a never-ending story of changing login details just to keep a working internet connection.

Changing login details is part of the troubleshooting process. We try different shaping profiles, routes, and realms in order to rule out the account as a problem.

If this does not resolve the problem, we look at hardware, Telkom line and exchange.

If a user has an issue, we would rather rule out all possibilities, and get to the core of the issue, than to leave them hanging with a slow connection.

Openweb was the only ISP (out of Afrihost, Mweb, Webafrica and PluGG) that I had to constantly change login details. I don't understand why I can have an account that works great for a couple of weeks then suddenly stops, email support, they supply new login details, all's great for a few weeks then, rinse and repeat.

Each ISP have different troubleshooting techniques. Im afraid I cannot comment on how the other ISP's handle their support processes.

I have however noted that you are currently unhappy with at least one of the ISP's you have listed, based on their feedback thread?

The trolls are out in FULL force again today I see!

Time for some positive feedback. My account is purrrrrrrring along nicely. Streaming HD quality videos all morning already. Thx mr B
