You sure the faults not on your side? I have never had an issue with my Openweb account on a weekend. Right now its maxing, (more than maxing) my line

me neither, this is the first time. keoma gave me another account which is much better but still not 100%. telkom tested the line and it tested fine. it looks like there might be a problem with the gamers king's accounts realm.

my dll speed currently run between 180-210kb/s which is more or less fine.

For the last few days I've been getting 3 bars ping on Battlefield 3 PS3 servers on my Gamer King account. Before this week I've always got 4 bars on my Gamers King account which is awesome.
I see as of this afternoon I'm back to 4 bars and downloads seem fine as well. So from my side it seems like it's perfect :)

Good morning all,

Telkom is busy installing a DSLAM on the corner of my property ;)

MrBeep, is OW going to allow for the 20 / 40 MBs VDSL packages soon?

Hi MrBEEP, I am currently looking at your offers on the OpenWeb website, would like to know what is the main difference between these 3 accounts below, mainly would like to know how is the shaping during office hours and after hours for downloading using FTP. Thank you.

2Mbps Gold Uncapped @ R399
http://www.openweb.co.za/go_gold_uncapped.html

2Mbps Gold Uncapped (Orange Edition) @ R349
http://www.openweb.co.za/gold_uncapped.html

2Mbps Gold Uncapped (Leon Edition) @ R299
http://www.openweb.co.za/gold_uncapped_special.html

The difference is in the contention ratio. The less you pay, the higher the contention ratio.

Shaping is dynamic based on how busy the network is at any given time :)

Great question.

Also when are the GOLD Unshaped packages coming back?

Does this then mean that the current special : "Gold Uncapped (Leon Edition)" is in fact not a special price on the current Gold account, but rather a gold account with higher contention ratio at a cheaper price? Which would mean that the special is in fact not a Gold account but rather an in-between type of account (somewhere between Silver and Gold) at a specific price? This could make an interesting philosoraptor meme. :)

Nope. It is a Gold account, as it has all the priorities of Gold, and the Premium Gold profile. The contention is slightly higher, and there are a few other tweaks which have been made

Is the last one named after your client care Exec?

Thanks for answering my question so swiftly. Are you able to disclose what the exact contention ratio is on this special and what these tweaks are or does this go against your business model? I think this clarity would go a long way for a lot of people considering this special.

Thanks

Im afraid not, as this is company sensitive information.

What we can say is, it will perform like a Gold uncapped service.

Ah ok. Well thanks anyway. I am still a happy OpenWeb client, and will be for a very long time the way it's looking now. I just like to ask questions and know exactly what I am paying for. Currently sitting with OW 2 debit orders and I am happy to be in the predicament :p I just can't resist a good special.

:D
