I am currently on Silver (8MB/s) uncapped currently.

For the last few days I have noticed a significant detioration in daytime download speeds as compared to last month.
Anyone else having the same issue?

Nightime though - speeds are superlative. Cant complain there.

Even over the weekend?

MrBeep - is Remote Desktop prioritised in any way on Silver accounts? Browsing etc is fine right now, but I'M trying to RDP to a friend's server and its like dialup speeds.. he's on an Mweb account.

This applies to anything that is not http. Gold accounts too. OpenWeb should rename themselves to AfterHoursWeb, because it certainly isn't "open" during business hours.

Really.

Currently downloading the Fifa '13 demo at way over 400kBps. I'm on the 4Mbps Gamers King special. Everything running full speed atm, except for torrents (just tested at only 10% full speed, which is very slow indeed). At 17h00 of course torrents rocket to full speed again. Gaming, browsing and Youtube runs full speed pretty much 24/7.

MrBeep, isn't 50kBps on torrents a bit too slow for normal shaping?

Thanks

@MrBeep

Please check my account, I am on the 4mb gold uncapped, currently getting download speeds between 8-10Kb/s...
I have sent you an email.

Thanks

No. Torrents get the very lowest priority during peak time. It can dip way down and go high up, dependent on how busy the network is at any given time.

Remote desktop is used by folks to bypass our traditional shaping, thus if the network sees excess traffic coming from this port, it will deprioritise until levels normalize.

Today downloads were slower, as everyone is still downloading their content from yesterdays big release.

This has seen a large spike in download traffic, which means shaping will kick in more aggressively.

Mind to elaborate on the above ( in bold ) ? Big release of what ?

I would google it, only problem is google is taking forever to open the search results, and the fact that I have 4Kb/s at the moment...

HTTP should not fall under the shaping policies surely ?
