Download a legal HD movie. Watch a 1080p Youtube video. Come on, you have to use it somehow. We dont like an empty network!

I have a quick (possibly stupid) question. On my MWEB uncapped account I'm limited to 4Mb speeds (line syncs at 6Mbps or so). With Openweb Gold uncapped, will this still be the case? Note that with a Telkom account I get about 6Mbps so their accounts work at your line speed.
 
I had Gold 4Mbs for 3 months and my line synced at 10Mbs
I usually had around 6-8Mbs down though.
You should ask for a free test account to get a feel.

What time did you try Zewp? Reason I ask is that I had full line speed until about 08:20 this morning then the taps where closed and now international, if the site actually opens, crawls.
 
Call logged with support to hopefully get new login creds on a new account. Lets hope it solves my speed problem.
 
Sweet Peach's. OW support folk don't mess around. Requested, via email, a new account about 20min ago. Already got the new details in and router rebooted. Well Done Chaps.

Needless to say, internet flying once again my side. :-)

I don't get how getting a new username increases your speed? Just doesn't make sense to me, but perhaps I'm wrong. Care to explain MrBeep ? Smacks of the Placebo effect to me :-)
 
I'm starting to wonder whether i'm not better off getting a 2Mbps Standard uncapped account instead of a 1Mbps Gold account - it's cheaper too...

Standard gets unshaped just 20 minutes after Gold, and my Gold account doesn't function as it should during the day anyway, NNTP is basically dead or running at 20kb/s.
So in the end I'd basically get the same crappy speeds during the day, but it would be twice as fast as gold after 6PM

Is my reasoning correct?

God Logic right here folks. I switched from 4Mbs Gold to 10Mbs Gamers King and LOVE IT :D
Same day speed and more than 2x the after hours speed.
 
Not too sure myself, but it does. Been with OW close on 2 years now and have requested a new account 3 times. To give you an idea of the speed difference go to 9GAG.COM. You see those animated GIF's? Well, on the old account you click on it....nothing happens. New account? Yeah, fully animated right away.

My personal suspicion is that IS still has a hand in throttling accounts even though OW does not. Thus, new account means fresh start.

My download speeds were fine, but the store pages and community pages were horrendously slow. It seems to have resolved itself now, though. Everything back to normal.
 
Anyone else experiencing slow speeds today? maxing out at 20kB/s (4mb gold original) cant stream video even at 360p . Also cant stream any audio and play any games at the same time without latency going up(currently up to 6k). Have sent support and MrBeep a mail about 3 hours ago just wanting to find out if there is anyone else with similar issues.

Just request a new account, job done. I realize for many its not "solving the problem" but it sure as hell makes it go away. As for similar issues? Sure, since last week already. Finally caved in this morning a dropped support an email requesting new creds. Was taken care of in around 20min.
