Good to see this thread is now a sticky. Checking through the rest of the posts in this section of the forum, it's just Mweb complaint threads left right and center :D

We certainly do not want to get lost between all the unhappy folk.

Thank you so much!

We really appreciate the kind words.

Mr Beep, I just came here to say what an excellent service you have. For the past few months after my initial teething problems my line has been nothing but exceptional.

Thank you for that great product!

I must agree that the last few months I have experienced no problems with OW.

Even this 10GB test account is superb.

I wonder how many users have switched to OpenWeb in the last few days, or are planning to switch.. would love to see some numbers :p

Show of hands?

That's the beauty of it all, OW doesn't believe in monitoring bandwidth ;)

BUT, you can download something like Networx (http://www.softperfect.com/products/networx/) and use that to monitor your bandwidth. If you have multiple machines, just install it on each of them :)

Well I use my connection across multiple devices, it's not just PCs.

I guess I'll just forget about monitoring it then. :D

according to that my OLD account is still in use and used over 250Gb so far. Ya think OW re-uses account details?

It's working for me currently. Only shows last 3 months though cause OW gave me a new account due to issues with the last one.

Best way to manage and monitor multiple devices on a network is with a dedicated firewall/gateway. I have between 20 and 30 devices hooked up at any one time and Kerio Control gives me fine control as well as very good shaping (QoS) so each device can do what it needs to.

Hi all. I've been having some strange problems with my internet lately. After 7:00pm and on weekends my speeds are erratic. It runs full speed for a few hours and it's slow for a few hours. This isn't everyday but it's been happening more and more often.

Like today my HTTP and ANY file sharing sites such as Putlocker, BillionUploads, Rapidshare etc are running extremely slow but I tested a torrent and I'm getting almost full speeds.

I have contacted Openweb support twice and they said it's congestion, I contacted Telkom and they say they don't see any congestion in my area. I'm by no means an expert in this at all, so any ideas what may be causing this problem would be appreciated. I understand it's difficult to trace the problem as it doesn't happen all the time which makes it hard to pinpoint the problem but this has been for a few weeks now.

I have attached speed tests and ping test, Screen shots of torrent downloads and file sharing downloads and a tracert.

Thanks.

Kindly drop us a mail: [email protected]

We would like to take a look.

Usually slow speeds in the evening point to a congested exchange, as our network is normally very quiet around this time.

We do not user this resource for bandwidth monitoring.

We do not monitor bandwidth on uncapped as it goes against the essence of what uncapped stands for.

If you really would like to know how much you have used, we would recommend an on network monitoring application that allows you to monitor your bandwidth.

I noticed that my whole line ran slower when a torrent app was open try close it and see.

Yes, this is a common cause of slow speed issues.

Your torrent program seeds and eats up your entire upload capacity. Once upload capacity has reached its peak, everything slows down, and latency sky rockets.

We did a quick survey 2 weeks ago, and around 65% of speed issues reported were caused by this.

We would suggest you limit your upload speed on your torrent program to around 10KB/s
