Neither of things will help.
Home accounts generally have a limited number of open connections available. As you know a torrent client opens hundreds of connections simultaneously.
The way to solve this is to limit te number of open connections in your torrent client.

I signed up yesterday, received my login details, but am getting no internet connectivity after switching out the logins on my router.

Think activation takes longer when using debit order. Credit card payments are usually practically instant though.
