OpenWeb ADSL Feedback Thread

Came here looking for an answer as to why my 1Mbps Gold Uncapped was only doing torrents at 2KB/s.

Appreciate the feedback MrBEEP, just keep us informed :)

I must admit the daytime shaping has been driving me nuts , but the communication from you Beep and admitting there is an Issue makes such a huge difference in my opinion.

Nobody wants the typical Mweb guy response that sounds like it was written by a politician , an honest and real feedback really helps to put all the qualms to rest .

Yeah!

So my highish end Netgear router/modem takes at least 10 minutes to connect while my free Tenda router literally, and I timed this with my phone, took 17 seconds from being plugged into the wall to me being able to browse.
"Made in China" doesn't mean what it used to. :)

is there a secret handshake i don't know about to get new creds? i just got told the above..... (see previous post)

No, not at all. Basically the account is used for business purposes (around 50 users) 08:00 - until 16:00. I just state in the email that performance is shot to hell. I also state things I have done to test the account (router reset, port reset, different ISP). Then I kindly ask for new credentials. Job done.

I Know that some may say that this doesn't solve the problem but for me and my users, we're happy as the entire process takes 20min tops.

Really, you cannot beat OW support. You cant.

The issue at hand is, how often do you have to request new credentials from other ISPs?

Never.

Support is great, prices are great, feedback is great. But there's something wrong with their accounts if we need to keep chopping and changing in order to get something that works as advertised...

Why?

Just been browsing tha lst few pages.

I think I owe my fellow OpenWebbers an apology... coming from Mweb I am accustomed to the automatic shaping so I have just been leaving my torrents running, expecting that they are 'auto-shaped' by the ISP.

I gather that this is not the case and that I ought to set up my client to stop torrenting during peak hours?

im sure it should be auto shaped by the ISP. no apology needed.

Hi Friends,

Things are looking alot better. You may download away.

Some areas might still receive some shaping, but the guys are on top of it.

Please let us know when we can start resuming our downloads.

My hat off to Openweb. Been floundering around with SEVERAL ISP's, done my technical and service provision analysis.
There are a lot of "manipulators" out there. It takes some doing to see through the BS.

My previous ISP was wearing down my router power button....Just check the forum threads...

With Openweb, i have now had several months of trouble-free internet access. To tell you the truth, last comment here was my first confirmed slow-down, high ping etc. Since, as i am typing, this has been cleared up!!

Coming from an industrial technical background, i understand that REAL technical issues will happen. That is the reality of asset management.

My experience so far with Openweb is excellent, in comparison with others...
****it, i am happy for the first time after the 56k modem drag...
Keep it up Openweb and Mr. Beep. World-Class stuff...

(I am not affiliated to any of the above... just a happy customer)

World-class stuff, indeed :)

I really enjoyed your post, tx. ;)

Shaping still applies. As long as real time services (surfing, streaming etc) are not affected just wait it out.

Not 100% clear on this. I have the 'Gamers Bling...' 10mb account, my understanding is that off peak, no matter what, I'll not be shaped.

Is the current shaping a result of the issues that have been experienced recently?

Downloads maxing out at 100kB/s on a 4mb gold account atm but still way better than this afternoon.
