I can only see that happening if OW upgrades uncapped accounts too. Really hope they decide to keep things as they are now.
 
No it was across all videos (I tried about 5). I tried to download a test file and was getting 40kb/s. To watch 360p comfortably you need at least 80 kb/s.

I think that what someone else said about heavy downloaders are migrating off mweb might be the cause.

It may also be an attempt by Openweb to push day users onto either capped or business packages in order to deal with the high demand during the day.

What has surprised me is the rapid degradation in speeds. It was like one day it was fine the next it was horrible.

The slowdowns could also potentially be congestion on the exchange as it is towards the end of the month, which remains prime time for the guys still on cappped accounts.

There are no general issues currently.

Speed fluctuations are usually caused by a Telkom or router fault.

Kindly call Telkom on 10210 and have them test your line and router.

ive been having truly a truly awful youtube streaming experience lately.
Even using my platinum account, i cant stream 480p properly
 
Kindly PM me so that I can take a look.

Platinum is completely unshaped, thus any issues is more than likely on the side of Youtube or the video you are trying to watch.

Tonight we will be unshaping our network for the entire weekend as follows:

Platinum - Always Unshaped
Gold - 18:30
Other service levels - 21:00

Happy downloading!

Shaping will resume on Monday morning at 8am.
 
MrBeep, strange thing, i am connected to Openweb but no data is being transmitted/received, i have tried a different ISP and it is working, anything strange going on? It has literally been like this since 00:01am this morning?

This week's been good since my new account, while things can be a bit slow at times, Gmail, IMAP email, and Facebook have been working much better.

if it wasnt for Openwebs 1 month cancellation policy...

i would be enjoying a usable bandwidth right now. cant believe i have to wait till the 25th of this month before i can move away! i am currently playing on my server and there is such lag for everything its ridiculous! tracert, nothing above 25... cant be congestion on my exchange because i am in a residential area on a week day and keep on getting handed a new username and password everytime there is a small issue on their network. i will not recommend my friends to this ISP. Time to switch over to my 1 gig Free Cap from Afrihost. thank you Afrihost for saving me yet again! pity its only 1 gig though

I am in the same boat. Gave my cancellation notice in. "Gold uncapped enjoys a higher priority on our network and of course, a lower contention ratio", I would hate to know the speeds that the normal uncapped is getting right now. Can't even get windows update to get above 45kB/s

edit: I also have terrible local speeds. And it's not my line.

First day I switched over to Openweb with the intention of staying here for a month, can't open wikipedia, going to move back or elsewhere. All ISPs have issues from time to time, but this sort of issue where you get sub 10KBps speeds means you might as well not have ADSL.

Exact problem here - Only managing 30kB/s doing a Steam update. Already cancelled my account, but stuck with them for another month due to their 1 month cancellation notice crap.
