Around 200ms is better. The best is around 180.

You may most definitely upgrade to Gold Uncapped (Original).

We recently boosted this account quite a bit. All folks on the Original product would've noticed a nice improvement.

Hi MrBEEP

Sorry if this has been asked and answered before, n00by here… but I am on the non-promotional 1Mb Gold Uncapped @R329, and have been for 3 years now… will I be able to upgrade once Telkom upgrades the line to 2Mbps on this account, your 2Mbps for R398… http://www.openweb.co.za/go_gold_uncapped.html or will I need to choose one of the new Gold accounts I see offered ? This account has been brilliant and I would welcome the extra speed and really do not want jinx it with a migration to another type of account.

Stunning results!

1mb Uncapped Gold Leon going extremely slow right now.

Trace route showing pings in the 200s on hop 7. A second trace route shows hop 7 is fine, but timeouts in hops 8 and 10.

What is going on? Please find account in inbox.

This fault should now be resolved?

Anybody else having trouble with Youtube?

My NNTP & speedtest.net are both maxing out at 1.1mBps, but YouTube is struggling to stream in HD

Edit: Seems to have righted itself after switching accounts around / re-authenticating - Glitch in the matrix it would seem

Thanks MrBEEP… great news… will be upgrading then as soon as Telkom flips the switch.

My 3+ year old account has just worked… and I have indeed noticed a boost during business hours as well, even on the IS backbone.

Great news then… ta.

glad to see OW is not answering my tickets :|

MRBEEP.

Which is better 1mb GOld uncapped or 2MB Everyday uncapped considering latency and speed

i cant speak for him

but gold exstra priority and connection ratio may cancel out the exstra speed
in the day time, and on bussy network days

but on unsharped weekends the 2mbps will be better :D

I have had a look, the last ticket I see from you is requesting us to close your ticket.

Gold Uncapped is better no matter which speed you look at as it has a MUCH lower contention ratio and higher priority on the network compared to Everyday

glad to see OW is not answering my tickets :|

MrBEEP:

I see Axxess are upgrading all their uncapped clients' accounts to coincide with Telkom's ADSL speed upgrades over the next three months.

Will Openweb be doing the same, or what are the plans around bumping up your ADSL uncapped accounts to the next fastest speed?

Network quiet today or did you upgrade your IPC and ...? Getting 80kB/s + on my torrent download on my 1Mbps standard special account. Usually around 30kB/s during the day.

thats awesome!

wat time was it,and when?

just wondering cuz when i torrent it goes good till around 11am then its dead

and over weekends its all good

Right now...still going at +- 80kB/s :) Will let you know after 11

Edit: It's after 11 now and speeds are ranging from 60 - 90 kB/s

@MrBeep. When I bought my 1Mbps standard special account, the 2Mbps account was R199. Can I upgrade to this when my line speed is upgraded? Also, what would the contention ratios on the standard special account compare with your new everyday uncapped?

I heard that if you stay on the special account for long enough you are upgraded to the normal account contention ratio after a certain time period depending on how much you pay.

Just wondering what would be best after my line is upgraded. Thanks
