Looks like the network is heavily shaped at the moment. Still business hours, so will wait a bit..

mmmm 17H40 ... Uncapped ...Shaped down to a deboned anorexic pygmy on diet at the moment ..... Slower than a bicycle going uphill with two flat tyres and a missing chain .... Well you get the picture. Mr. Beep?

Trying to download drivers for my printer, max 30KB/s. Switched to AH capped, 398KB/s :( Hope it gets better later.

IS news server is running like a beast at the moment.

Please drop me a PM so that I can take a look.

The network is still quite busy.

i just got home and i tested the new mtn network, downlaod run fast, but streaming is still really bad

Internet has been running silky smooth over here for the past hour when I switched back to my uncapped account. Not downloading, Just browsing. Streaming is reasonable too :)

I'll report back tomorrow morning if my problem replicates itself.

Same issue on my side.

I've been on the MTN network for about a week now.
Can't really say anything is worse. Yes, no more free NZB server, but no train smash, as we mainly rely on streaming on our Roku.
I spent the whole day online today, as I was home on study leave and browsing forums and taking mock tests online, etc.
Throw in the occasional YouTube video as well.

Must say, that the daytime browsing was much better than it was on IS.
International ping is amazing though. Getting 170ms - 180ms pings to bbc.co.uk and the UK Unotelly server 176.58.107.53
Local ping could be better. Pings to hetzner are always around the 40ms - 50ms mark.

Although, the only downside I have since being moved to the MTN network is it seems as if the streaming isn't as good as it used to be. Used to be able to stream a 720p vid from YouTube without any buffering. It plays fine, but there's the occasional buffer now. Also, tested a Hulu video on my laptop now, instead of on our usual Roku, and it seemed that it was hovering around the 1Mbps - 2Mbps range. Where previously on the IS network, it would max out my 4Mbps connection easily. Especially on YouTube, if you use the stats for nerds. It now is constantly in a 1.5Mbps - 2.5Mbps range. Maybe there's just some tweaking that OpenWeb needs to still do.

So, at this stage I'm still busy testing it to see what is the best for me. Looks like both have their positives and their negatives. Lower contention, better daytime browsing and lower international ping on MTN.
Better streaming, Free NZB Server and lower local ping on IS.

then IS is better for me

torrents running at 380kb/s now
thats good

but my local ping is higher
and streaming is slow

but other download even torrents is fast so ya

back to IS

Having pretty poor performance on MTN right now. Think I was on IS before this morning (upgraded from 2 to 4 OW gold) and that wasn't a bed of roses either. My speedtests on http://capetown.spdtst.saix.net/ won't even initialise and pings are kinda high in the tracert. Not overly impressed. IS was bad, but this is worse

I also seem to be having the same issue as Captain Beer. Apart from YouTube (which uses 1MB/s quite nicely), my downloads are maxing out at 30KB/s. I've tried grabbing drivers from nVidia and a game from GOG and neither will go faster than that. Hopefully it's just a temporary slowdown.

Also getting atrocious speeds on practically everything right now. Not very impressed, Gold 4Mbps Uncapped not looking worth it

Slow speeds here too.....this has been ongoing for a while now. Also NOT impressed !

I feel we do not get what we pay for.

now i am starting to wonder is it the MTN or just openweb it slef...

but already asked for a switch, but i read that for streaming and local ping IS is better so ya all good:)

but downloading new ninvida drivers and it run at 450kb/s+

Last Result:
Download Speed: 3490 kbps (436.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 433 kbps (54.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 25 ms

this is what i get on MTN

but on streaming on a few sites, test it on sites that i know always get full speed, even those are crap..
but rest is all good
