Anyone else having issues with the IS server on OW? Every now and then I find it has just stopped downloading. Then after an hour, it starts again.
 
I had some issues as well, seemed to clear up around 22:30, after that, things were fine. This morning, it's all good - browsing is perfect!
 
It's difficult to test during the day, as uncapped lines are throttled quite a bit. Our upload speeds are pretty much the same, but my download speed is higher. Did you run the test with everything, including OS updates off?
 
Question: Are NNTP protocols shaped as much as bittorrent? I am exploring the differences between the two and quite frankly I am very accustomed to torrents (find it much easier) what are everyones experiences with OW i.t.o shaping during peak on NNTP?

All the other PCs off. Just the one PC doing the test. I was manually grabbing Windows updates last night at around 10kb/s. Currently downloading a file off Dropbox at 30kb/s
 
During the day (peak hours) downloads are throttled back quite a bit. After hours though, you should get close to maximum line speed. There was a problem last night though, for sure, because everything I did was slow until around 22:30, from there it started to get better. How about doing a speedtest again at 18:00 or so? How's your normal browsing? For example, internet banking, social media access, searching?
 
i have 4mbps gamers
and mine was fine last night

streamd youtube 720p
imdb also streamed 720p with out any buffer
 
Looking at the complaints this week, it seems like users on the Everyday Uncapped accounts are quite happy.

I'm experimenting. NNTP from IS News Server should be faster as no international bandwidth is required. I'm not sure that's the case though...

It'd be great if local traffic was somehow shaped less...

FYI - Telkom upgraded Rondebosch (campground road) from 2mb to 4mb last night @ roughly 10:30pm

Confirmed with http://www.telkom.co.za/checkadsl/ this morning.

Don't know how accurate the link is - it says my line is on 4MB, but I know for a fact that it's still on 2MB. Don't know of anybody in my neighbourhood that has been upgraded yet.

Best to check your router's stats.
 
I must commend MrBeep and OpenWeb for their service.

I am having problems with my account and it hasn't been working fantastically. But MrBeep is always ready to help and attempt to provide solutions. Congratulations on trying your utmost to keep me as a satisfied customer. Please keep up the good work
