Agreed, something is not right. MrBeep?

It's the difference between the packages OMW.

I was on 2MG About gamers bling R 220.00 changed round about the 19.11.2013 to 4MG gamers R 390 +-. A R170.00 went off my account today......... that is not pro-rata at all.

yup same thing here, but we agreed to it,so nothing we can do about it

but is unfair, now we play full price for a package we only used less than half the month
but new members can get the package for free

Well, you agree agree to pay a pro rata fee. Not the difference between the new and old package.

OW does not charge pro-rata. they take the new account - the old account. thats not pro-rata. thats calculated on how many days of the month is left. they just charge you the difference which is wrong.

2013-08-01 SERVICE AGREEMENT NETCASH OPENWEB R 109.00
2013-08-23 SERVICE AGREEMENT NETCASH OPENWEB R 117.00

this is when i went from 1mbs standard uncapped to 2mbs gamers king. so there is no such thing as pro-rata at OW. they just charge the difference. no matter when the upgrade happens. its unethical and it needs to stop. or stop calling it pro-rata.
You have got to be kidding me? By throwing words like "unethical" around, you imply an intentional deceit designed to screw you over.

Why in the hell is "CONSPIRACY!!!!!!" the first thing people default to the moment they see something they don't like?

Who the fsuck said anything about a conspiracy? Talk facts not your own kark. It's not pro-rata. That's all I said. Contribute or shutup.

I have had a look at Venoms ticket history, and he agreed to pay the difference between the old account and the new. No mention of pro rata was made.

When an account is upgraded, no pro rata is charged. You are charged the full difference between your old account and the new.

The ticket history shows him agreeing to this, and then complimenting OpenWeb on its great service.

It is a pity that Venom is unhappy. We really thought we were doing a good job by upgrading him so swiftly and providing him with the upgraded speed since he agreed. However, when payment was deducted, which he agreed to, a problem is raised.

I see his point, but do not agree with the perceived intentions. We are not offering a free service. We need to make money to survive, therefore need to collect payment for accounts, upgrades etc.

In the future, we will spell out the difference amount, and the time window the debit will take place in.

Unethical to mention pro rata but it's not. In the end the screwing happens
Then provide proof of where pro rata was mentioned but the difference was charged please.

Further, pro rata does not necessarily mean the same exact thing in different contexts. It does not have a singular, precise definition of dividing a rate according to a time interval, simply that it is worked out according to a given proportion. The proportion in this case is given explicitly as the price of the new account minus that of the old account. You have nothing to be indignant and complaining about getting screwed about.

I have just upgraded my 1Mbs to 2Mbs account and I can verify that indeed there was never a mention of pro rata at all for this... it was stated clearly that the difference between my current and new account would be payable for November...

To confirm, you would immediately like to upgrade to the 2Mbps Gold Uncapped (Original) for R398 per month?

We will bill you the difference amount between the old account and the new for the rest of November 2013.

Would you like to proceed?

Kind regards
Leon

I have not seen any mention of pro rata for this upgrade at any time by OpenWeb for this upgrade.

By the way MrBEEP, Leon was also impressively efficient in my dealing with my upgrade... all done and dusted in a matter of 3 emails and a few cups of coffee. My 1st support "call" in the 3 and a half years I have had my 1Mbs Gold account... twothumbsup.

That dude is scary efficient.

I just want to chime in as well and praise Leon and OpenWeb for an excellent experience. The response times via email ([email protected]) are quick for queries (wanted to adjust my packages) and clear. The performance of the Gold Uncapped is also very good in my experience (past 6 months).

So if I wanted to upgrade, and have it only take effect on December, will I only pay the higher price in December?

A while back it was still official policy that they wouldn't upgrade at all between specials & specials only being for new subscribers...now people are throwing tantrums about not getting pro rata despite that not even being promised?

Its 60 bucks...that doesn't even buy you a proper pitchfork. Nor is there any grounds for pitchfork usage here even if it did...

Hi Mr Beep. Just out of interest sake, could you give any sort of approximate value to the contention ratio on your Everyday uncapped accounts at at the moment? I'm just curious and interested because no ISP other than Cybersmart give the contention ratio or their accounts...Cybersmarts home uncapped is advertised as 15:1, or is that a lie? Seems rather low? Anyway, thanks :)
