@Mannemarak

If you get figures like this you know your exchange is borked.

my exchange finaly got 10mbps
i really want to get 10mbps but my wallet is not that big :(

but i see the titan uncap 10mbps is almost the same as the gamers 4mbps i pay now

so is it worth the exstra money i spend at telkom for the 10mbps?

i know the lower connetion ratio will cansel out the exsta speed

but what do u guys think?

i think the 10mbps line at telkom is about R250 more than the 4mbps am right?
not sure :p

edit
http://business.telkom.co.za/enterprise/broadband-internet/adsl/price.html

only 126 more pm
i can life with that
now what about the data

higher 4mbps
or lower 10mbps?

Hi StoneCold,

This is part of the normal Streaming category

Good morning MrBEEP :)

Just a quick question with regards to streaming priority. Is Twitch.tv part of priority streaming or is it also classified as part of the normal streaming category? I don't have any major issues with twitch, just asking out of interest.

Thanks

Ouch!

What did Telkom say?

@MrBeep

I cant say but info I have it will be soon.
Then I will see what my capped account can do on a 4Mbps line.
At times it is ok. Come 7pm night time at times it comes to a crawl.
Those figures tell a storry. That is why I went over to capped and not to be double shaped by OW and Telkom.

Regards

The use of Netflix is illegal in South Africa. Therefore we load it onto the normal Streaming category and not the Priority streaming category.

We do not have the time to individually shape streaming sites. We categorize them accordingly.

"Accessing geographically restricted content with the aid of things like a VPN or DNS proxy is not illegal.

However it is likely to be breaching the terms of use of streaming sites to use any service to bypass their restrictions or to lie about your location. Still not illegal but your account could potentially be cancelled at any time or your could be locked out in some way."

Perhaps not illegal by law, but Netflix will certainly not be impressed.

I think they won't deny the extra income, in fact I wont be surprised if geographically limited regions form part of their biggest income. At the end of the day, they are being protected by their terms and conditions and that will keep the wolf from the door for them. :)

anyone here useing the titan uncap?
i am wondering how is it?

My personal experience on titan was not good and had it for about a week. Went from gamers to titan could clearly see the difference in priority I could not even get full line speed after ours. Like I said its my personal experience and I understand you get what you pay for :). Currently on Gold Leon so will see how it goes.

mmmm - Please do keep us informed of the difference. This is helpful indeed.

May I ask what line speed and location? Tks.

i got 4mbps gamers atm

but my exchange got upgraded so

the titan 10mbps is R6more pm and the line is R126 more pm

so is it worth the exstra R130?

Cape Town 2mb Gold Power :) I try not to download during the day but when I just got the Gold account I got around 60 KB/s during the day and full after hours. But it all depends on how busy the network is obviously.

I don't use my line much except for streaming and news server downloads after hours and the speeds on NNTP recently have been absolutely pathetic.

What is going on?

No issues here. Are you using a paid news server? The IS news server is touch and go, normally pretty good but you can't rely on it being stable.
