Kindly PM me so that I can take a look

I don't use my line much except for streaming and news server downloads after hours and the speeds on NNTP recently have been absolutely pathetic.

What is going on?

Cape Town 2mb Gold Power :) I try not to download during the day but when I just got the Gold account I got around 60 KB/s during the day and full after hours. But it all depends on how busy the network is obviously.

Why do you try not to download during the day? :wtf:

I've been trying out one of their Freedom Capped Unshaped accounts.

I'm finding it brilliant for day time use :)

Why do you try not to download during the day? :wtf:

Could not even browse during the day web pages did not open was told by OW if I download during peak my browsing gets shaped alongside the download protocol.

Im at work during the day but the wifey is not happy if she cant even use online banking :)

Can someone please enlighten me why while playing online games (Diablo 3), my connection will fail in the middle of a quest. The same thing happened last night. However, it does not happen every night.

Upon closer inspection, there is a red led light on my netgear router. I guess it could be an authentication problem. After switching the router off/on all the lights are green again!

I have done a tracert but it seems fine.

Can it be a fault with my router? I'm on a 1mb Gold Leon edition account.

It's probably Telkom.

Try a process of elimination with troubleshooting this.

Try another account around the time you having the issue, AH free 1GB is easiest.

Sometimes not so easy but try another router if the problem is still there after trying above.

Thanks

Will start with a process of elimination then tomorrow evening with a different account.

Do the 4Mbps Gamers King Uncapped accounts have a rolling window in terms of rate limiting/shaping?

The past 2 days I've noticed (and graphed) my usage and its being limited to 2Mbps after midnight even.

I fully understand the rate limiting to 1Mbps between 08:00 and 17:00, but nowhere did it say that downloads will be shaped that long after hours.

So is this normal/expected behaviour?

i had to reboot my router again today looks like

my one is a bad one :(

Seriously - take it back to Game. If you motivate with a manager, they will replace it.
I can assure you, I have done the same - last weekend I replaced a Canon wireless printer that was 4 months old. Last year I replaced an HPG6 and a Toshiba Satelite.

What are they gonna do ... plug it and test it at the shop?
You spent your hard earned cash on it, and you deserve to enjoy the net and your unshaped weekend (hinting to OW here).

Good luck :)

Be interesting to see what Mr Beep says, but I am on that package, and generally do not experience shaping after hours.
I have had technical issues, requiring Telkom port resets, or Leon changing some stuff on his end, maybe some exchange issues - but in the main ..... its after hours bliss for me.

Maybe upload the graphs to elicit some more discussion....

Likewise. Reckon this could be the answer to my daytime browsing problem.

Only if they can engineer an auto switch to your uncapped account at a certain time. Like at 6 data logging goes to uncapped instead if the capped. Otherwise it's just more admin.

I am currently connected to your account using my 20Mbps test line and its running at 18.4Mbps here on an HTTP download.

I'm more uder the impression that Openweb is running out of bandwidth and the Home-users get what is is left. That seems the logical explanation why my 10MB account performs like a 512k account during business hours and the taps open after hours.
