Past two days my speed has dropped considerably, to the point where I struggle to open my email.
Is there something going on that I don't know about that's causing this drop?
I've already had my account switched once before, a month or two ago, for the same problem, really don't want to have to again.
Is anyone else having the same problem?... What's the deal guys?.

i have the same problem this is my 3rd account change as well.

Problem is when its changed it runs smooth for like a day or 2 i tried downloading a 7gig file from 11-00pm to 6am the morning and it only downloaded 188mbs.

Thing is that sometimes by accident a file is downloaded after happy hour and i get full speeds:wtf:

Keoma is there a problem ?

Mine's been fine. This is my third account for the month though, you'll probably need another :\

Email support.

Will do, thanks... Just find it slightly annoying that openweb forces us to constantly change accounts...I mean the fact that you're on your third account for the month just seems a little ridiculous to me.

Am patient with them as i have not received shoddy service (must admit i have been shopping around as well)

Yeah weird. I mean I'm not even doing any heavy downloading, just email, online games ect. I understand that shaping takes place, and i'm fine with that, but to the extent where I can't even access my email seems a little ridiculous.

Yeah I agree, they are always friendly and helpful if you encounter a problem. However the amount of problems you seem to encounter with them on a monthly basis is where they fall rather flat...Hats off to there customer service department, I just feel the product itself is were the problem lies.

I used to have that in the beginning as well. (Been with OW for 3yrs now.) Only time I change now, is when something really breaks. Changed backbones once, MAYBE twice this year. To me this option is totally worth having -as opposed to being with another isp *cough mwebafrihost cough* where when something breaks, all you get is, "We're sorry. We're busy working on it," and all you can do is wait it out. I'd rather change backbone 20 times and find something that works, than battle with (and know there's nothing I can do but wait) slow/non existent internets :)
You'll find the sweet spot and when you do, you'll be reading the millions and millions of "why is mweb/afrihost so slow today" threads -while gunning it ;)

I really hope that will be the case. Like I said I have nothing against openweb, and while I am rather annoyed that it seems I will have to change my account quite often, I appreciate that in comparison to other South African ISPs this is but a minor inconvenience.

Here's hoping that I find my "sweet spot" soon, and that one day we as South Africans can finally have ISPs that are on par with their international counterparts (e.g. The UK) It certainly seems to be heading that way.

Today was the first time that I needed to contact OpenWeb since opening my account.
The reason, to upgrade from 2MB Gold to 4MB Silver. One email for the request, a second to confirm & a third to say a big thank you.
It's running like a bomb!!
The original reason why I switched over was because the big M was shaping video streaming so much that you could not even watch Youtube properly. XBMC & OpenWeb go together hand-in-hand. :D

Hi Guilty101,

Can you please drop me a mail: [email protected] and I will investigate this issue for you.

my move axxess ---> afrihost -----> webafrica -----> openweb (yeah yeah where is my loyalty)

well am still with openweb , mainly because i was there when Keoma started the company with his different options for the downloader/heavy user in mind.

so in actual fact i am loyal to OW :-)

Hi Guilty101,

Thanks Mr.Beep, I really appreciate your concern.

I've already sent off an email to openweb support but I would appreciate any assistance you can offer.

Dropped you an email, looking forward to hearing from you, and thanks again.

Agreed.. the fact that i'm on my third account is a little bit silly. But at the moment OW is the best of the poor choices we have for decent ADSL. MWEB is pretty rock solid but too expensive (Im on Vanilla Uncapped). As long as my connection is always performing and for the past 3 weeks it's been pretty good - after I queried support and got my accounts swapped, with a very acceptable turnaround time.

I R Gamers Delight!

Got my DSL line (finalized) yesterday, got my openweb account within a hour from signing up and so far so good.

Thanks ad keep it up!

thanks MrBeep

For replying so dam quickly to my email yesterday forgot to update thread

Just switched to OpenWeb Gamer's Delight uncapped from Afrihost uncapped- was getting 220ms to London and about 1mb speed on a 4mb line... now getting full speed and 166ms! Awesome!

How do I check my usage?
I'm on the 4Mbps Standard Uncapped. That special offer where November was for free.

I had problems for a few weeks and then had an account change as well. I've been away so unable to measure frequently, but 285ms ping to Internet Solutions late last night was a bit long! Customer service not too bad - although it was pretty stressful being without connectivity for 6 hours last week with some mission critical activities on the go. Not all my queries have been responded to.

With this new gamers package, can one upgrade to a higher speed package, so if i take the 1Mb and then 2 weeks down the line i would like to go for 2mb or vice versa.. is it possible?
