Hi brucem,

Kindly email [email protected] so that we can investigate.

There are no general issues currently. Our clients are loving their unshaped weekend :)

I opened a Std Uncapped with OW today, and have not even been able to browse the Web, is this because it's weekend?

Working nicely here too. I did have some (dns) issues earlier...have to refresh a page few times before it returns. Will see how it goes.

A big THANK YOU to OpenWeb for creating my limited gamer account in a zip and delivering as promised! :)

I used to be with Afrihost and didn't wish to struggle along with their poor customer service, as unfortunate as the MTN move-over issues were. In comparison to the 15gig capped solution that I had with AH, Openweb simply offers better value for money, 24/7 gaming traffic prioritising and that all important uncapped solution that I've always wanted. My latencies are now just below 200 as it should be, gaming with WOW - 25 man raiding on an EU server, along with my fiancé as well.

Thank you Openweb. Keep it up!

I too am having some dns issues also have to refresh some pages.
Thanks

Yeah, I'm having very frequent DNS issues this weekend. I thought it might just have been something on my side. Getting pretty annoying.

Hey Friends,

It seems like alot of folks are experiencing DNS issues this morning. We have logged a fault with the upstream provider.

In the meantime, you can set the DNS in your router to:

Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8
Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4

Hey MrBeep,

Not with Openweb, but I have seen it on my line. Regardless, thanks for the help. Ultimately I'm very happy with the account!

Hi Rivin,

I'm afraid there is not much one can do about the international hop either.

Have you ever experienced sub 180ms?

Hey Friends,

An anomaly was found on the DNS servers. This should now be corrected.

Please let us know if the problem persists

No issues here. All I can say is the Internetz have being flying all weekend :)

LOL... An "Awesome" button would be more fitting ;)

It's highly appreciated that your engineers find and diagnose the problems in good time :)

I wish MyBB has a 'Like' button ;p

Mine's been fine ever since I set the DNS to google DNS in the router. Try it out and check if it maybe fixes your SC2 lag.

Edit: Oh, and for clarity, Google DNS is the one MrBeep posted up in the thread.

Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8
Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4

These settings made no difference for me. Download speed from EU still around 0.4

wow

Leoni answered my billing query @21:30 on a Sunday. So I guess they work round the clock. Most ISPs only handling billing stuff during office hours.

Hello,

Have you contacted [email protected] so that we can investigate?

There are no general issues currently, thus the fault needs to be individually investigated.

Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4

Hi MrBEEP

Thanks for the reply.
Yes, I know that I was seeing numbers from piped usage from myself and my account partner from Pietersburg. The connection time of 24 hours per day correlated exactly for the period that my line was out of commission, and returned back to 48 hours per day after my line was restored.

Unfortunately my account partner is a heavy down-loader. This resulted in me being heavily throttled to < 50% line speed, by your upstream provider (IS) after my line was restored.

I was provided with a Telkom guest account and password, and have done speed tests to servers in Johannesburg, Cape town and Durban. All tests ran at full line speed. This indicated that there is nothing wrong with my line. As soon as I switched back to my Openweb account, the same tests were crawling again.

For accounting purposes, I have nothing against piping usage from more that one user into a single account. In fact, the less money that ends up in greedy Telkom paws, the better.

I also do not mind being throttled to death IF I HAD A HAND IN CAUSING IT. The very least I expect in terms of service levels from an ISP, is some form of consistent predictability.

I have thus made my name Tottie by assuming that there must be something wrong with my line. After careful consideration, I have decided to give you notice to terminate my account subscription at the end of December 2012.

Hi DawieS

I believe this was explained to you via email a while back.

You are seeing pipe usage, as your uncapped account does not support correct usage stats yet. Developers are working on this, but the interface for this is not yet ready.

If you desperately wish to receive usage stats, we can move you to an account type that supports this. Kindly email [email protected] to request this.

As I have explained on numerous occasions before, we do not shape based on usage. We shape based on how busy the network (entire network on your service class) is at any given time.

I am glad you logged a fault at Telkom ,as the slow speeds you describe is definitely not related to shaping. We also do not throttle.

I trust this explains matters?
