Just pulled the trigger on the 4mbps Gamers king. Welcome back dear Openweb. MrBEEP, is it possible to get my old e-mail address back, my PS3 is linked to it and forgot my password AND my CC details changed, so can't buy anything on PSN. Thanks.

So the response I get is it's peak time and shaping is in place. That's great if I was using p2p or news servers, but I'm doing regular http.

I'm trying to download any video converter and it's barely breaking 1KB/s.

Speedtest.net fails outright, I cannot run a speed test at the moment.

Please PM me your details so that I can take a look.

Browsing should not be affected

Eversince I moved to Openweb I've been really happy, until about 2 weeks ago. I have a gamer's delight 2mb account and recently with online games I have been experiencing extreme latency issues. My latency spikes in less than a minute from 20k ms to 10k ms to 15k ms to 7k ms. All I can do is stand around looking pretty. I can't do instances nor raids. Raids my latency jumps up to almost 23k ms and then I get disconnected.

My biggest frustration though is, my fiance also plays online games on the same connection and he hardly has any lag issues. I really don't know what to do. I'll send a ticket to Openweb.

Are the gamer's delight accounts being shaped or throttled for some reason? Would really appreciate it if someone could just look into this for me please because at this point my connection is good for browsing and maybe a download of some kind. Not happy since with gamer's delight we were guaranteed gaming and downloading as priority.

Gamers Delight is a shaped connection. Downloads will be shaped during peak periods.

We have not had any latency issues reported, and this generally points to a Telkom line / port or a router issue.

Kindly email [email protected] so that we can investigate.

Hi MrBeep,

I've just joined OpenWeb (10mb Gamer King account) and am very impressed so far! Performance is phenomenal (especially after hours) and the shaping during business hours is not nearly as aggressive as I thought it would be!

I have a few questions about your other accounts, just in case I want to upgrade in the future :)

1) On your website, why are the prices for 10mb Gold uncapped shaped and Gold unshaped both R1799?
2) Regarding 'Max Connections' for these two accounts.. What is the difference between '1 ADSL Line' and '1 Connection'?

Oh and on the subject of my current 'Gamer King' account, it is stated that gaming traffic will be prioritised on your Platinum Uncapped level 24/7. What exactly constitutes 'gaming traffic'? Does that include game downloads / patches from Steam / Origin / Blizzard etc., or just traffic generated in-game?

It is also stated that around 60% of any given month will be completely unshaped. Is this another way of saying 'after hours and weekends will be completely unshaped'? If so, can we assume that the 'Gold Uncapped Level' that downloads are prioritized on is the 'Gold Uncapped Unshaped Level'?

Thanks :)

I was given another account name to login with that uses different routing and this has solved my problem. According to Openweb support it seems to be an issue with my exchanges routing.

Very impressed with the service thus far. :)

Thank you for your questions:

1) On your website, why are the prices for 10mb Gold uncapped shaped and Gold unshaped both R1799? They run on two different contention ratios, and just happened to have the same price. We should have this changed soon.
2) Regarding 'Max Connections' for these two accounts.. What is the difference between '1 ADSL Line' and '1 Connection'? It is the same thing :)

The actual playing of the game will be priotitised, not the downloads.

When unshaped, it runs on a gold level. When shaped it runs on a Standard level.

I do hope this will shed some light on the package

Any issues with international http, can't load zippyshare or speedtest, mybb is fine though.

I was having the same issue, they gave me alternate login details that uses different routing. Issue with exchange according to them.

lol yeah I'm tired of changing my login details, but engadget is fine, it seems to only be some sites

Does anyone actually get their invoices and statement in the mastercp.openweb.co.za site?

Hi blunt,

In order to setup your invoicing profile, please drop a mail to [email protected] with your company details. Please include your Company Name, Address and Vat Number (if applicable), and we can forward you your current and historic invoices.

@MrBeep, sent you a mail yesterday regarding my current "office hours" connection speed. Still waiting on a response.
