OpenWeb and OpenBrowse

Hey guys a bit confused here. Please help me out.

On the website OpenBrowse advertise the Ryder Special for R229/m, when I click on "Order Now" I choose Ryder option for R229/m then if I go to "Continue -> Step Two" there another section on additional Addons where I can choose "No Thanks" or the different line speeds.

Is Ryder special R229 + 512k openbrowse or do you have to select 512k for additional R139 with brings the total to R368.

I'm under the impression that Ryder Special includes 30g local + Openbrowse 512k for R229.

If this IS the case what additional service do I get if I choose 512k again on the second page.

Thank You

Ryder special includes the 512k openbrowse with R229, so you can just leave it as is with no other additional services.

Hi cyberarmy

Thanks for the answer, for interest sake, do you know what the additional 512k option do?

Cheers

This is their generic package selection panel for openweb, so for example if you purchased their normal 3g/27g package and would like to get the openbrowse benefit after you reach your international cap, you add the various openbrowse package on the same screen, but it's redundant for Ryder special.

I Think I found the mistake on the website.

On every package you choose with OpenWeb, they give you the option at section 2 to buy OpenBrowse, they should have omitted this option on the Ryder and Founders special at section 1, as these two ALREADY include OpenBrowse.

Kind regards

Yes, some fine tuning on their side is needed as you are the second one ask about this in this thread in a weeks time, I think.

I am using my WA prepaid account at the moment, speed with openbrowse is unbearable. Slow and the strange thing is overseas website loads faster than mybroadband......

Hi cyberarmy

There was a backbone fault yesterday over at Telkom causing slow response times.

However, all has now been sorted.

Please try OpenBrowse again and post your experience on this thread.

Kind regards

Yap, Telkom came to fix up my line yesterday afternoon, so not line related anymore (if it was eva).

I've just made another 10Mbps available to the OpenBrowse network. Has this helped? We are now only using 48% of the capacity available.

Hi mr Beep

Im afraid it is as slow as always :(
Bursts here and there but most sites load incomplete.

INT has been funny with today, for example firstshowing.net's trailers uber slow on cache and so on. wonder if there isn't an issue somewhere with related things on this.

WAY better on my side :) this is the best my openbrowse has been in a long time

Speed a bit better now on my side too, and I can login to my IM to chat again. Thjanks Mr. Beep!

You just need a normal ADSL MODEM and ADSL enabled phone line like if you want to use any other ADSL ISP. The only different thing is you need to run a proxy program called openrouter before you can enjoy the benefit of using Openweb's local bandwidth to browse international during weekdays and download at the weekends. And you will be able to chatting program, update your antivirus on a daily basis besides browsing. Value for money!

Hello mates.
I need an advice.

1. If I create a PPPoE connection (OpenWeb) on my PC and get connected, will it override default PPPoE connection (SAOL) on the modem?
2. Does 'Ryder Special' supports more than 1 connecting session?
3. Can someone who has OpenBrowse try to load "www.kdu.edu" and tel me how the speed is like? (slow, fair, good)

Thanks.
